V44 stand alone SR20DET issues

Just finished installing and wiring V44 to silvia with SR20DET.

tested all outputs etc, had strong spark, good injector pulse etc.

started and ran fine the other day, we were hoping to get on dyno this arvo. it started and ran started getting a bit rough, it was fouling the spark plugs.

then it just stalled. as if we turned the key off.

we replaced the fouled plugs but still no good, so we started checking things, has injector pulse still, but no spark at all, not even when we command the ecu to test.

we spoke to greg very quickly he told us to check the trigger as we cranked... had no signal. so he told us to up the 5 volt to CAS to 8 volt. did this but still no good.

ran out of time to test any more till monday.

any idea what could have caused this? could running 5 volt to the CAS instead of 8 volts done any damage?

also why arent we seeing results when commanding to trigger coils?

remembering it was running fine after initial config. and start up.

cheers

Jez

The ignition test feature works without any signals from the CAS. If you have no spark using the ignition test, then there is some problem with the wiring, igniter or coils. If you did not have the correct dwell settings or ignition trigger edge while the engine was running, you could have damaged the coils, and that is why you have no spark.

The CAS has 12 volts as the power supply with the stock ECU. I would recommend you do the same with the V44.

Ray.

thanks for the quick reply.

the V44 came with a map/settings already loaded for Sr20DET, but will definately check that.

we checked the output signals from the v44 at the ignitor on ecu loom, LED was on with a slight flicker,

do you know the correct dwell settings -

also the correct ignition trigger edge -

so we can check with what is currently set.

cheers

Dwell time for the standard coils is 1.8 msec at 13.5 volts. If the software you are using has a dwell edge setting this must be set to rising, if the software has Ignition edge setting this must be falling.

ECCS Widest slot = 16

Trigger 1 Edge = Falling

Trigger 2 Edge = Falling

Trigger 1 Pullup = On

Trigger 2 Pullup = On

Trigger offset = -100

car is running now,

but having issues with the boost controll.

using a greddy solenoid and from 0-42 it runs normal wastegate pressure then if you take it to 43 it skyrockets through the roof. havent tried changing the frequency yet, currently at 300.

got it all sorted, holding boost very well.

ended up making 252.4kw on 20psi.

did a comp test to see how things were, cylinder 2 was down to 80psi and the rest 160psi. did a wet test on cyl 2 with NO change

took it for a road test went awesome, very smooth idling perfect, did a couple of 3rd gear runs and popped the motor. cylinder 2 lost all compression.

gonna strip the motor and see what happend,
