Guest |635|
Hello My tuner wants me to purchase a wide band sensor to be wired up with the vipec-v88. just wondering do i have to use a particular sensor or will any sensor work? Can you guys recommend me one? thanks John
rayhall
The NGK AFX meter is very good. In comes with a NTC sensor and not the Bosch like most other meters. The NTC sensors are not effected by heat and a much more reliable. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/products/performance/afx.asp Ray.
Guest |129|
when wiring the AFX to a car with v88, should the AFX's signal ground go to the vipec signal ground or chassis ground?
Guest |635|
thanks for the information Ray. I'm a bit confused, i think my tuner wanted to wire an AFR sensor into one of the ecu's auxiliary and have it monitor afrs? would that kit still be able to do this? thanks JOhn
Guest |129|
the AFX has an analogue out wire that you can connect to a vipec aux in. 0V is 9.0:1 AFR, 5V is 16.0:1 AFR

Either sensor or ECU grounds should be used. It should not be connected to ground somewhere else in the car. All grounds on the Vipec are common. You can connect a narrow or wide band 02 sensor directly to a volt input. The displayed air fuel ratio will only be accurate over the narrow band. This is no good for tuning or logging at WOT. It can be used for closed loop narrow band control. If you want wideband, then there must be a wideband meter between the sensor and the ECU. Ray. Guest |635|
thanks again ray for clearing that up. Just another question could i use this: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lc1.php
rayhall
Yes you can use the LC1. It uses the bosch sensor I mentioned. You cannot have the sensor in the dump pipe of the turbo. It has to be under the car well away from the heat.
