You will need a cam sensor for direct spark ignition. With no cam sensor the ecu has no idea whether it is TDC compression stroke or TDC exhaust stroke so will get it wrong approx 50% of start attempts.
If the other car with no cam sensor started reliably then it must have been using wasted spark ignition - but your injection timing would have been randomly incorrect in that case too.
You know what Adam you are bang on, that’s the only thing I’ve overlooked here and yes the other cars have been wasted spark, excellent thanks for the input

Morning
We have an Evo 8 with a thunder running 18-1 trigger, base timing set at 110 and runs fine no issues when it runs, drives fine, however even when warm theirs a 1 in 3 chance it wont start again and trigger error counter rises, new sensors crank sensor, wiring checked, cam sensor is disabled, is it still looking for something ? Weve based this trigger setup of another car i had with no cam position that worked fine and started every time, thanks

Thanks Adam will be todays testing

Link fury, currently seeing cam trigger issues, runs fine on stock ecu, tried a few of the various preconfigured trigger setups to no avail, anything special required for this?

Thanks for the input gents very much appreciated, I thought this would be the case and was very optimistic about what I could fit on. I think maybe going to a wire in ecu here as I’m requiring dbw, 8 injectors, sequential ignition, flex fuel, oil pressure, oil temp. So that alone I’ll need 2 extra ign channels as well…
-
trying to free up injector drive 5678 for extra 4 injectors, moving ecu hold power from injector drive 8 to ignition drive 3, pin swapped pin 38 main relay into pin 22 ac, were on the money with wiring but doesnt work, can ignition drive 3 not be used as ecu hold power? even though we can select it? evo 7 4 plug btw
running dbw on expansions so limited options
thanks

Yep that sorted it, many thanks

also tried 0 cold start and switching off as my corrections as possible still non start
Also to add updated to latest firmware, just weird how i can swap back to stock ecu and its fine
-
as per title, nothing weird and wonderful, stock evo 6 bar fully forged, runs fine on stock ecu no problems. Wont even fire on a base map, maybe coughs now and then, then floods engine within a few cranks, engine speed signal looks weird but runs fine on stock ecu? 7 bar map sensor defined on this base, tried different trigger options but nothing. input welcome.

Ok so all Evos 5-9 so far, at first it did do the freeze then re connect, but it seems to have got worse, where as now it locks up the laptop, the bizzarre thing is its on all 3 laptops....now i used br8es plugs which are resisted, and leads are oem, igintion suppressors ive not took much notice on as i do know people like to get rid of those. Another bizzare thing is that is fine on certain roads and horrendous on others......never had a issue with the g4+ doing this, same conditions?
-
So the last four g4x ive done, every single one makes my laptops freeze and now its becoming un-workable, bought a 3rd laptop and still randomly freezes at WOT, so thats 3 laptops on 4 different cars !!! All on latest software ....Using leads that come with the new ECU

Can I check this serial is not a stolen board? I’ve been asked by a customer who’s buying 2nd hand,

So swapped the lambda sensor just on the off chance now fault code 54 any relation?
-
-
I’ll get that sorted today
-
It’s not plugged into can2 it’s in can1 at moment , had to upload low res as the file limit size
basically the multimeter is showing 12v power to the can lambda red/black wires
can green/yellow is showing 60ohms so can line is good also
Also pinned into the back of the can plug to board reading 60 ohms still everything plugged back in

have you tested it with the engine running? The CAN Lambda doesn't start the sensor up until after the engine is running. It is also possible to send it CAN messages to make it run while the engine is off.
Yes always with engine running mate
9 hours ago, Adamw said:Please attach a log, the tune, and some photos of how the lambda is connected to the ecu.
Ok mate will do today
-
Yes lambda is not working, yes set to lambda1 in link can. On the can staus everything is green and no errors. Everything seems fine just can’t get anything to display
-
But I’m using the find devices to see if the ecu can see the can lambda not to reprogram it, just as a test and I can’t even press find devices as it’s greyed out and says the above message. The can lambda has 12v to it can line has 60 ohms on it and I’ve tried reconfigure the can lambda to communicate on can2 but it’s find devices is greyed out and all I’m seeing is said message....
-
I’m only using one can lambda. And I’ve only selected one channel for Can comms so don’t understand why it’s saying this then ?
-
Getting this error message when setting up can lambda, car was running before. Possible faulty coms port forces ecu upgrade so was working before.

Thanks

That’s where it is mate never moved. As mentioned put in a new one just in case

After Gradient and offset data for the link IAT sensor please, if anyone even knows it
Many thanks
