  1. Thanks but how do I get knock numbers from the box to the vipec? Does the F F dial settings actually send "fake" knock data so that I can check the vipec is recieving the "knock data"? Or do I set the settings to like maximum amplification and run the engine at idle to see if I can generate fake knock myself?
  2. Hi All, Thanks for all of the help so far. Now, Trying to confirm my knock box is wired in properly and using the test mode on it. In the maunal, is the "LED" referring to the external "LED" box that you can use, or the built in "System LED" on the knock box? On my knock box (LINK G4 one) the status LED is blue and only ever blue. if i Press the status button the light goes out (I assume power off?) and then if I press it in, it goes blue and stays blue. It never flashes even when i put it into "test' mode F / F on both dials. In the vipec logs I can see "KNOCK ACTIVE" but nothing else happens. I have both dials set to F and there's no numbers or inputs, just "SYSTEM ACTIVE" in vipec "RUN TIME view" Should i be expecting to see some of the number change when either in test F/F mode in the logs on the vipec or even the #'s of DI1 changing between blue light on and blue light off (i.e power / no power) Trying to confirm its wired in properly and confirm vipec can see the knock box before doing any "knock tuning" Log file and tune file v44 topboard evo 9 PNP on evo 8 non mivec / non VVT model with digital knock box (green LINK g4) one connected to DI1 (DI1 on EVo 9 is Variable Cam, unused on Evo 8) http://www.paulr33.com/evo/knock1.zip Thanks
  3. Got my wideband working, thanks for all the help, sensor needed to be recalibrated. Time to test knock box next
  4. hi all is there a way to check when the I/C spray is "operating" by looking at the internal "onboard" logs from the Vipec? I can see it looks like IC spray is setup as injector driver 7 but i cant find any reference to this or IC spray in the logs ??? Logs here http://www.paulr33.com/evo/evo2.zip Thanks all
  5. Did some logging and the issue is coming from the wideband controller. Will chat to innovate and see what they say. Thanks for all of your help
  6. THanks will check it out and see what I can find
  7. hi all, have installed innovate LC2 kit and also digital knock interface. i cant seem to get any meaningful #'s out of wideband input and also not yet seen anything from the knock box. ill troubleshoot the knock box another day but the wideband is wierd. i can see wideband input, but the AFR's are either 7.2 or 22.3 nothing in the middle. ive double checked the setup and im sure its set correctly and also brand new innovate kit professionally installed by a known evo workshop. innovate LC2 set as "Innovate LC1" in "wideband" input under DI1 on evo 9 plug in Vipec V44 topboard running on Evo 8 engine. DI1 on evo 9 is Mivec (variable CAM) but on Evo 8 it's not used. so DI1 is set to wideband, innovate LC1 and ive checked the calibration values in the help file and these match my innovate documentation, ie AFR and voltage range is identical, i.e same sensor between Innovate LC1 and LC2 models. attached is PCL an log files where you can see wideband is either 7.2 or 22.3.... even though car is at idle, i'd still expect half normal AFR's ie sub 14's or maybe even 13's to richen up a little??? also in logs knock system status is 8 .... ? help doesnt reflect what code 8 is.... not for both of these, ive enabled the inputs but left CLL and KNOCK control turned off. just want both working in logs first before i "tune" stuff see tune and log file; http://www.paulr33.com/evo/vipec.zip
  8. I've sent the KMS people another note / reminder
  9. FYI 6 Spd evo 8 uses 3 plug ECU. So my vipec plugin is actually an evo 9, 3 plug ECU as my evo 8 is a 6 Spd evo 8
  10. Thanks and all good, at least it's still configurable and a simple value fine, wasn't expecting a 3D lookup table for the trigger level
  11. Thanks and v helpful. Not sure what you mean by no over threshold? From screenshot it looks like engine light will be on if knock goes over 200?
  12. Hi all, about to connect up the digital knock interface and was interested to know if the knock kit can flash the engine light for certain levels of knock? I know I can back out timing etc but wondering if there are any form of visual aids ?
  13. Yeah I was aware of toucan, and a few other can bus display units but they all fail in the asthetics department. I think a lot of them are software driven which usually means an OS is underneath the display unit so the update rate / display rate usually suffers. The KMS unit, like the apexi PowerFC hand controller are light weight and I think are actual microprocessor designed units which usually mean fixed instruction and no software to make them do stuff. Usually results in a nicer product. Ie in the gaugeART videos on YouTube the update rate looks funny sometimes. I've even thought of piggybacking a PowerFC onto my vipec and using the PFC hand controller as a display unit
  14. Hi all, Any update on this? I can get a G4 plugin and KMS display but not until next year. if I purchase the evo G4 plugin i88 and KMS display what other accessories do I need? CANBUS cables? What about the expansion connector? On the vipec I'm using the standard AN inputs but is this the same on the G4?
  15. hi team, i have the above link g4 knock block in my hands finally but it hasnt come with any cables. can i source these from somewhere? i require the main loom and knock sensor loom a LINK G4 KNOCK BLOCK DIGITAL KNOCK INTERFACE PCB REV 4.0 SERIAL #7512
  16. Very tempted to order one (KMS DISPLAY) and get it ready for anticipation. My v44 needs to be chipped for CANBUS anyway so I could send both into a vipec dealer at the same time if it helps
  17. is there a way to compare maps from different tune files? ie IGN map from tune saved at date xx/xx/xxxx and compare it against another saved .pcl file? i want to see where my IGN values diff - i.e. whats changed compared to previous tune or can i export the IGN numbers to excel somehow
  18. hi all, sorry for thread dig up. ive sourced a Link G4 digital knock interface, the one pictured above and keen to install this soon. im using Evo plugin V44 and the documentation states; Note: If you are using a V44 or a Plug-In ECU, knock control will NOT work while the DI5 pull up is turned on. The pullup must be turned off in the DI5 setup menu. If the device wired to DI5 requires a pullup then an external pullup resistor (4.7 kOhm) must be wired. If the DI5 pullup resister is turned on, then knock control will be forced off immediately. My DI5 input is set as Start Postion, and the pullup value is set to off. Is this Ok to leave as is? can I wire the Digital Knock output (digital) to any of the un-used DI's ? thanks for your help
  19. thanks and good work, let me know if i can help
  20. Thanks Jannerboy and Simon. Jannerboy can you send the above info to them? I never got a reply from them when I sent my questions. IMHO it would be tops of we could make this work
  21. hi all, sorry to dig up old thread. still keen to buy a knock interface new or 2nd hand if anyone has one for sale??
  22. thanks for the info. That's some pretty weird scaling going on there... Does this apply to all sensors or only some? Do you have a full list? Ie is it every temp output is offset by 50? Are the pressure ones ok?
  23. what would be an example of scaling? Do you mean Kpa, psi, bar etc? The KMS unit lets the user choose what display unit is used
