It plugs into a small socket on the PCB. On the BMW plug-in the expansion loom will give you 2 extra temperature inputs, 2 extra analog inputs, 2 extra digital inputs, a 5V supply and a sensor ground. The Spartan would connect to one of the volt inputs and the sensor ground.
