  1. Thank you mate. That is really helpful.

In a large streetport above 5krpm to 9krpm does 150 to 155 seem a reasonable setting in your view over the default 130 setting? Can you confirm that the exhaust port will deffo still be closed or propose a more ideal setting if possible please?

90deg feels good to around 3000rpm. Thanks for confirming this is in the ball park you expect.

130deg again feels good to around 5000rpm? Can i please get your thoughts on this?

Looking for some advice above 5krpm as really dont want to inject when exhaust port is open on the front and rear rotor.

  2. I have read this and a lot of stuff on rotary injection timing and still struggling to really pick this up. It doesnt make any sense to me still...so i've been using the soi 130deg setting.

Adam - fairplay mate, you gone above and beyond to explain this but i dont get it at all. Is there a way you can dumb this down even more? lol

Let say i'm running the largest street port possible and there is greater overlap than a stock port. Would the 130deg setting still be optimal? or would 140-155 be more optimal window above 5000 rpm to redline?

The reason i ask is because 90deg below 3000rpm actually fees subjectively better than running the oem 130deg on the large streetport. Am i doing something wrong here?

The haltech ecu tuners claim being unable to fire the primary and secondary separately on link is a limitation. Does this make any difference?

  3. Gentlemen,

I'm experiencing a cruising issue around the primary and secondary injector staging area.

in 4th or 5th gear as I approach 4000 rpm....there is suddenly a lean spot which can be felt as the secondary injector comes online. Is there a way this can be dialled out or made into a smoother transition.

I also noticed this during track driving at SPA. if i held onto an gear partial throttle around 4-5krpm.....there would be a lean spot as the secondaries started staging. Really frustrating issue. Even if i up the accel fuel and time it doesnt seem to make any difference to the lean out. Never had this issue with the pfc. What am i overlooking for the partial throttle map?

    Any help appreciated.

Seems to happen at throttle tip in...or very light throttle.

  4. Thank you Adam.

Pete - I dont have dual o2 sensors. However, on the oem lim the runner lengths are not equal and the rear rotors are known to run hotter by upto 10%. If you have EGTS on your exhaust manis for front and rear rotors you'll be able to evidence the rear rotor running a bit hotter. What Adam has confirmed is we can simply run a % of fuel trim to get that rear rotor to balance out with the front.

Turn on individual cyl correction.  You can either do a single value for each rotor or a table for each rotor.

    Thank you for this.

One last question. With regards to injection timing the base setting for the RX7 13b on the link g4+ is set to 130* BTDC. Any idea if you have an a table for what a starting point should look like?

What time point is this?  I dont see any such thing, there are no cuts at all in the whole log and I see boost, inj PW and dwell at all times the TP is at 100%?

The main thing that jumps out at me is it looks like you have a fuel surge or cavitation issue, fuel pressure drops and becomes very erratic under high acceleration - but that issue is not present at the 6600RPM problem area that you refer to above in this log.

I noticed the points you have referred to. I was referring to this area under 100% load but looks like I've suddenly lost boost. Perhaps a boost hose popped off!

In your opinion do you feel the G4X platform is a lot better than the g4+? or is there a newer link ecu which is coming out which is going to replace the x platform soon?

I'm not seeing any evidence of a fuel or spark cut happening anywhere in that log where TP(main) is above 90% and/or RPMs at approx. 6000RPMs and above. But I am seeing the same erratic differential fuel pressure and wheel speed data that the others pointed out.

Agreed, i could not see any limits get activated and wanted to be sure that was the case. Just strange there was a boost cut very suddenly.

  6. Thanks, I noticed that. Was there any limits that got activated? I cant see any evidence.

Likely some kinda electrical gremlin. My Afr reading did not seem to lean out but at the point of the boost cut I cant seem to understand why Boost, Spark and Fuel stopped at the same point. Almost like a rotary cut. I'll look underneath the car next to see if any wg lines have popped off.

  7. Gentlemen,

Was doing some dragy gps testing and randomly i had a power cut, looking at the logs - fuel, boost, spark all cut at 6597rpm. TP still at 100% until 6700 rpm. I've gone over the logs and cant see any gp rpm limit, map limit, rpm limit get activated. Anyone able to offer insight into why this happened?

Sounded like something popped off....but checked all boost lines, turbo, engine etc...and all looks fine. Drove car home and again all in fine. Random G4+ ecu glitch?? which maybe activated a gp rpm limit or something but didn't log the activation?

  8. Thanks, i've watched that video a long time ago. Will need to refresh memory. Hopefully its not just a marketing gimmick and the x is worth the additional improvements. Hoping to take advantage of the black friday deals and upgrade. Not having to rewire the entire car is ideal. Would prefer to plug in the new ecu and calibrate everything to suit.

  9. Gentlemen,

    Blackfriday sale is here.

So is the G4X a worthwhile ecu upgrade over the g4+?

Im on the g4+ and it for me works for me on my platform rx7 series 6. Are there any drawbacks from upgrading or moving to the g4x? Any software features which have been removed or glitchy etc?

Pros and cons welcomed. If i do get a good enough deal i am seriously thinking of upgrading to the x...but want to make sure im not just paying for marketing etc?

Are there more analogue and digital inputs on the x?

In that log it doesnt look like it dies when you hit the throttle, it dies on return to idle after a blip.  That looks like the idle valve or throttle stop is not open enough.  You have an idle target of 11-1300 and it is idling at 550-600rpm.

yh maybe the idle control is not properly connected/ failed so the ecu is unable to control it.

@Copyninja Regarding the idle/stalling issue, I noticed in your idle tune settings that you have Idle Ignition Control disabled. Enabling that might help - basically when you're operating in the idle region, it will advance/retard your timing based on the idle speed error. When you enable it. you'll need to populate a 2D or optionally 3D Idle Ignition Table.

thanks, i'll try this and see if its good enough to control the idle. Likely my idle control valve has failed.

  11. Its strange, very light throttle hits are causing the engine to die when cold. Not sure if its an electrical gremlin as i notice the battery voltage keeps fluctuating. However, this is a brand new optima red top, so not sure if its something else. Before anyone else says the engine compression, that is confirmed fine.

This is defo a software issue with the cold fuel tuning as The apexi pfc never had such problems, could turn on stone cold and drive without engine dying etc. Issues only with cold start, idle and cruising.

Is there anything else I can try?

  12. Gentlemen,

I have attached my log file for a cold start and driving issue im experiencing. Once hot there are no issues

When cold, the afrs lean out even at the slightest touch of the throttle. There seems to be enough fuel in the crank enrichment and warm up enrichment. Accel fuel for throttle input as seems to have enough fuel.

Any ideas why there sudden lean spikes?

  13.  Having issues with the secondaries coming online when load is based on rpm. It goes very rich while the secondaries come online which feels like quite a big hesitation. Is there a work around in the link g4+ software for this issue please where it doesnt do this?

    image.thumb.png.80bef46de57cace92d33539783d45fd7.png

no matter what i do to this table....when the secondaries come online...the afrs shoot mega rich for some reason before settling. The staging process between the primaries and secondaries does not seem seemless! is this a glitch in the link g4+ software?
