  1. Thanks for the info. I will check the dwell numbers to find out. Much appreciated.
  2. good to know there's no such incident yet. No, the box is isolated from the rest of the engine bay. Exposed to outside air through the vents below the wiper. The heat is generated internally by the ecu (I am quite sure its not a sensor problem, ECU is so hot I couldn't touch it). Other items that share the same box did not see such temperatures. I am wondering if you can help me confirm if this is really normal among E36X ecus, since you mentioned normal operating temp should only be slightly higher than ambient. Thanks.
  3. Strange. My G4X E36X always, and I mean all the time, logs around 70 degrees C when fully warmed up. And it goes up to 80 on a hot day idling. I need advise on this. I use this on an E34, the ECU enclosed in the original metal enclosure. I did not even cover the original waterproof plastic box so the ECU is basically ventilated at all times. I cant imagine what it'll be like for the E36 as their ECUs are tucked away in an even tighter space.
  4. Hi adam, I am curious about the freq channel you mentioned. I found my knock frequency to be at 7.5kHz. I'm not sure whether to set the freq channel to 7kHz or 8kHz, as i am not sure what is the listening frequency of each selection. For example does 7kHz selection listens to 6.5-7.5kHz or 7-8kHz? Thanks
  5. Thanks Adam for your explanation. It seems like will have to go for a bigger ECU.
  6. I have said ECU and wanted to wire into my toyota 1NZ-FE engine with E-throttle. I searched high and low before decided to post this questions here: 1. Is the link E-throttle module compatible with G4+ Monsoon? If not, what are my options other than using a cable throttle or replacing the ECU? 2. Piggybacking the monsoon onto the original ECU, and using the original to handle E-throttle. How possible is it to setup?
