  1. How sensitive is this "clever digital knock detection device" to noise? Specifically all the knock sensors I've run in the past have been fooled by the noise of shattering rock against the bash plates underneath the engine.
  2. I'll echo the above statements. Although I'm using an EEEPc for date logging I'd prefer to use the onboard memory.
  3. I've completed something on the same general theme. For my needs I wanted reliable data recording in my offroad race car. So used an EEEPC which is enclosed in a plastic box to ensure it doesnt get mud or water in it. I log both Link and GPS USB serial data. Still working on the analysis software but have been using the limited ability of Excel to point to potential issues.
  4. I understand that the GP Pressure senders must be 1-5v senders only. Will the following Honeywell do for both fuel and oil pressure monitoring? http://www.elemar.pl/pdf/SA_honeywell.pdf If not can you recommend a low cost sender to use? I'm unfortunately very stuck. I cant read gauges while racing and as such must rely on the Link to log as much data to my Eee PC as I can possibly interpret. Cheers, Daniel.
  5. Ashley, I just wanted to add to Matt's concern re datalogging. I had wished to start my own thread but noted Matt has beat me to it. As you know I'm running an offroader that's simply unsuitable for a laptop or displaylink. As I can no longer serial datalog to one of my PDA's I'm rather stuck for a solution. I am in no doubt that datalogging is very important for any of us in motorsport. Its almost impossible to read gauges while concentrating on the course. Diagnosing a fault without a datalog is equally as impossible. Changing gearing (unless drastic changes), accelerator ramping, oil coolers and heat exchanger efficiency, basic fuel mapping (I've purchased an Innovate Wideband which becomes useless as soon as I can't datalog), detonation, the list of things impossible without datalogging goes on. And then there are the bastards like me who have a computing engineering background and just want to review the logs to ensure everything is running to spec. I'm sorry to add to the voice of concern, but it is one of the listed features that I purchased the G3Plus for.
  6. Ashley, I've also noted in a previous post "Unfortunately no warning appears, but there are some auxiliary outputs that can not exist twice (fuel pump, tacho, boost solenoid " Although I am by no means turbo literate does this mean that I cannot balance the load between the two turbos correctly?
  7. I'm placing a Nissan 350z engine into my new offroad race car, and strapping a small turbo to each side. As such I have removed the 350z flexiplate including triggering and installed a Kennedy adaptor plate and flywheel to mate to my Fortin transaxle. The triggering plate attached to the flexiplate will no longer fit within the confines of the bellhousing and as such I've begun looking at other triggering mechanisms. I have an aftermarket ali crank pulley which I intend to mate a steel trigger wheel to the back of. I've considered using a stock 32-2 trigger from a Toyota however the wheel is to small to fit behind the pulley and still allow for dirt and gravel clearance. I've also considered using one of the larger 36-1 trigger wheels from here http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/trigger-wheels-c-48.html and wondered what link would recommend as the best triggering mechanism for my VQ? In addition the cam triggers (one for each VVT cam) appear to be a multislot affair with slots occuring in a Y type pattern with additional slots at the top of the Y. I'm expecting pictures from the engine builder and will post them when available. However I wondered if Link were familiar with this type of trigger wheel (based on my stupendously stupid description) and it was supported with the Link Plus G3. Regards, Daniel.
  8. Ashley, thanks for the confirmation. Daniel.
  9. I've been sold an LEM G3, from one of your dealers, on the premice that I can use my DI channel for wheel speed sensing and still switch on and off antilag using PC Link. However I'm having doubts that I can use the LEM in this fashon. PC Link demands that I set a DI channel for use with antilag. Can I set it to some arbitary channel and still have antilag enabled/ disabled via PCLink? Regards, Daniel.
  10. Ashely, I also wish to run a laptop in my Link G3 based rally car. I however have no issues with PC Link. The gauge set, logging and tuning all suit my needs. However, and you knew this was coming, I need to start the app automatically (no problems), connect automatically, log automatically and display gauges... automatically. Is there a command line interface for PC Link, a startup script, or will I have to write something like a "MS Test" script to automatically punch buttons? Regards Daniel.
  11. I'm looking at running a Tablet with a Flash Drive in my rally car. I've been unable to find the minimum hardware and OS requriements for PC Link. The best I could find was on the PC Link Manual "1. A computer running Microsoft Windows. As with any software the higher spec. the PC the better. On slower computers, screen resizing may take a while, particularly on start-up." The USB driver manual also fails to provide OS specs. Could I run PC Link on something like a 233mhz tablet with 64mb of RAM and a 1GB flash drive, running Windows 98SE? Regards Daniel.
