Sent an email to the tech email, got a super fast reply. They asked to check a couple of details, but in the end nothing they can do. They are overseas and need NZ office.

Thanks for the reply. To say I am extremely gutted is a massive understatement, was hoping to be able to work on setup over xmas, had put in a lot of late nights to get to a point it was powered on in the week before but then finally got communications working on windows 10 late thursday night (what a headache that was) only to strike this unlock code nonsense. And dealing with a separate automotive shop who purchased the unit from a link dealer adds another step to get through. As a side note, the serial number on the box is placed right next to another number 127-4000, could the dealer have somehow generated an unlock code for that by mistake

I have the same problem as above with a G4X monsoon. Serial number 106331, got a unlock code to try 68c7965f74e2bd05, gives error 'Failed to unlock the feature in the ECU with error: Function Failed'. Dealer now gone on holiday for not sure how long so cant help me.
