  1. I have the Link G4+ plug in and need to know if there is a 120 ohm resistor on the board betwen H & L or do I need to fit one on the other end of the bus.

Installing a KMS uego  and could not find anything concrete about this in the manual.

    Help much appreciated

    Mike

  2. Back again,  the project was shelved for a while, but is back on now..

Just need some information how to set up a dash4pro dash on serial RS232 using the ecu manager.

I cannot see on PCLink how to set it up.   CAN is no problem with the KMS uego.

In the help file and the RaceTechnology instructions it says to set data streaming to OFF

I cannot even find this anywhere.

I hope it is not in an obvious place,  apologies in advance.

    Cheers  Mike

ps I pasted the help file page below and highlighted what i need to set.

This function is provided for the attachment of devices to the ECU that require various modes of serial communication.  Communications will be at the currently selected Baud Rate.  The following options are provided:

·OFF - Data will only be sent when requested - Note this mode is the same as the Requested-Short mode.
    ·Continuous - 12 Hz - A long data stream will be sent 12.5 times a second.
    ·Continuous - 25 Hz - A long data stream will be sent 25 times a second.
·Requested - Short - A short data stream will be sent when it is requested.
·Requested - Long - A long data stream will be sent when it is requested. This data stream includes individual cylinder knock detection values.
·Continuous - CRC32 - A continuous 25Hz long data stream inside a header and a IEEE CRC32 checksum. This mode can be used with the MoTeC dash board using the correct configuration.

    Notes:

·The selected Data Stream Mode will not take effect until the next time the ECUs power is turned on.
    ·

Continuous streaming data will be halted if any device (including PCLink) tries to communicate with the ECU.  Data streaming will recommence next time the ECUs power is turned on.

The following data stream modes should be used for these devices:

·DisplayLink - Note that the LinkG4+ ECUs only support communication to the DisplayLink over CAN, not serial. For older ECUs: Requested - Short.  57600 Baud.  DisplayLink FW V1.4 or later can use either Requested - Short or Requested - Long.
    ·Aim Dash - Requested - Short. 19200 Baud.
    ·Racepak Dash - Requested - Short. 57600 Baud.
·RaceTechnology - Requested - Short. 57600 Baud. G4+ PCLink comes with a Race Technology variable calibration file for the the DASH4PRO, the new file will make the DASH4PRO Oil pressure read correctly in PSI. You can find the file in the CAN sub-directory.
    ·DashDaq - Requested - Short. 57600 Baud.
    ·MoTeC Dash - Continuous CRC32
  3. Have a KMS wide band fitted and was wondering if it is okay to remove the 2 x factory narrow bands? ( the EC manager standard config file shows only one is connected on AN volt 6)

If I do this then I will have a spare input AN volt 6   as well as AN volt 4 & AN volt 5 that are signals from the old AFMs

I want to run 2 more signals through the AFM plugs (fitting other connectors) and wondering if the OEM wiring signal ground pins on the plugs are actually connected to the G4+ plugin signal ground or will I have to use the Expansion Signal Ground.

Do not want to alter factory loom inside the cabin.

Already used all the expansion inputs.

    Many thanks in advance.

  4. Hi Foo,

Thanks for the tips . much appreciated.

I was going to interpolate it all and just enter it manually but you have given me an easier way for sure. Cheers!

After confirming your base timing with a light how did it run and how close was it?

    Your info helps a lot.

    Thanks  and best regards,

    Mike

  5. Hi all,  I bought a G4+ plug in a while ago and will soon swap out my M800 for it. I did it for a number of reasons, ease of use, knock control ,logging in the one program, only thing was no onboard wide band, so have a KMS  can unit as well.

Where I live in Japan no one tunes a Motec or Link, there is a dynapack down the road but its in an Auto Style warehouse (autobacs) and only for dyno pulls to get a power sheet. They will not rent it out to DIY tuners or any Tuner.  So until I find a sympathetic tuning shop close by that I can do some steady state tuning myself, then a road tune is  the best I can do till then.

So to set up my config file (wanted to do modeled but will start with traditional) I was thinking of transferring all the data from the Motec file ie Fuel, master fuel, injector timing, ignition etc. obviously using the same xy scales. and will just back off the ignition timing 2 or 3 degrees and hopefully I should be reasonably close and able to drive it to a long slow isolated hill road close to me haaa to get the fuel right.

Its an r33 gtr which I have owned for 15 years and its running a 2.8 Tomei internals 9.0:1 compression. presently running around 410awkw with garret 5s, engine recently stripped down for check and renewed bearing rings etc.( I'm into planned maintenance).  Putting a single EFR 8374 on soon as well so I do not want to bugger anything up.

I can throw it on a car truck and take it somewhere in Tokyo (5hrs)  but that's no fun.

Please tell me what you think and all advice taken onboard.

    Cheers!

  6. Hi,

If I am tuning the car I have to use the USB based cable, this I think comes from the pin 5 & 6 RS232, please correct me if I am wrong.

I need to run my KMS wide band also into pin 3 & 4  CAN  or directly on the plug in board at the same time.

When the tuning is done I wish to run a dash from 5 & 6 RS232.

Just want to make it switchable,    ie  Tuning + wide band      or     Dash + Wideband.

  7. Hi Dave,

I have the Link G4+ plug in for a r33 gtr.

I am using a dash4pro which receives from Tx and Rx @ 57.6 kbaud

Also need Tx and Rx for the tuning cable I think?    but not at the same time hence a switch maybe.

    Appreciate your help

    Regards,

    Mike

  8. Hi there.

Regarding the tuning cable which plugs into the ECU connector.

Is only Pin 5 and 6 used for comms with pclink?

I have a KMS UEGO to run on pin 3 and 4

Want to run a display on Pin 5 and 6 also but separately of course

Is it possible to have a 3 way 2 pole rotary switch  pclink---off---dash?

I need the UEGO all the time, can I just connect this to a CAN bus connected directly at the board? and disconnect the tuning cable can conductors?

    Many thanks for any advice

  9. Hi,

Can the G4+ plug in send serial to a dash @ 57,600 baud and receive CAN @ 250 Kbits from a another device at the same time.

The reason I ask is the comms plug has both CAN and RS 323 pins.

    Appreciate your help

    Cheers

  10. Thanks for that Scott.

    Please excuse all the questions.

1/ The G4+ has Can1 and Can2  Is it possible to run the ALM on CAN 1 and the Dash4 on CAN2? at different bit rates.

    The communication harness has 6 pins   #3 CAN H  & #4 CAN L and #5 ECU RS232  TX & #6ECU RS232 RX

Can you tell which is H and L on the RS232 com please(  is TX = H  and RX = L ?)

I attached the PCLink help file info

2/  The G4+ plug in for Nissan Skyline gtr says the onboard MAP sensor is rated to 2.5 bar absolute while the brochure says the onboard MAP is 4 bar.

I am running max 1.7 bar and have an existing Delco 300Kpa MAP sensor ( cannot see a cal for this)

Really appreciate all your help and find this forum very useful.

    Cheers

  11. Thanks Simon

Forgot to mention,  I have a Dash4 pro which I want to run on a CAN bus which should be the same set up as the Dash2pro I think and I also want to run a Econtrons ALM on the same Bus.

The help file mentions there is a CAN setup for this wide band but when I go to set it up it is not listed.

The dash4 runs at 1mbit/sec and I can change the Ecotrons ALM from 250kbits/sec to 1mbit/sec as they both must be at the same speed.  Thats right isn't it?

Will this still come through Lambda 1?

    Appreciate your help!

    Cheers

  12. Hello Simon, Thanks, I am sure you are right.

Just going by what the specific manual said on page 12   Sect 4.3.1  AN 4 Temp currently not connected.

    Typo I guess.

    Cheers

  13. Hello everyone,

Regarding the G4+ plug in board (r33 gtr) and the extension loom.

It has 2 temp inputs but only 1 An input but there is provision for one more @#8 pin. (says not used at this time)

The plug in board is an extreme board if i am not wrong so there should be 4 altogether.

AT1 and AT2A are dedicated IAT and ECT   I will use the spare for fuel temp to enhance VE tuning but really would like another for Lub temp as I will use my old dashpro4 on the can.

Anyway i can get the spare one activated ?

    Any help welcomed and appreciated.

    Cheers!
