1jzgte VVTi, Storm G4+, firing issue

Hey Guys,

Always abit hesitant to post in these forums in fear of looking like a fool, however ill throw caution to the wind and take what comes.

I have wired a Storm G4 to a 1jzgte vvti. It is in a JZX100, which probably doesn't make any difference. I have searched through here and used a couple of the maps to see if I can find if I have any of the settings wrong (obviously inputting my input and outputs). I have setup COP with VR38 coils, wired to the 6 ignition feeds. I have wired in and setup ECU hold power as I have the standard 6 wire ISC. Factory injectors still. HV Electronics 4bar map sensor. standard intake manifold/TPS. I have not wired in IAT sensor as waiting for things to open back up so I can order one, however I wouldn't of thought this would stop it from at least firing up.

I have run through the calibration for ignition, and is firing at 10 degrees btdc. Tested all ignition and injector pulses. calibrated TPS and MAP.

This morning, I changed the Ignition to wasted spark and I managed to get it to fire and run on 3 cylinders. I shut it off, and changed the ignition setting to direct spark, and im back to were I was before. Lots of backfiring. I have attatched my saved setup with a basic cranking log. I was hoping someone might be able to view and point out where I am going wrong. Under run time values, I get Trig1 error counter 1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just want to get it some sort of running to get it on the trailer and down to the dyno shop.

From your description it sounds like the timing is possibly 360 deg out, firing on exhaust stroke instead of compression.  The 205 offset you have set is the normal offset for a 1J VVT but try your offset at -155 and let us know if that sounds any more promising.  If that doesn't help then please do a triggerscope of it cranking and a short log of it cranking.

Thank you for your reply Adam. If I go into Ecu settings - triggers - calibrate. Enter the 'Set base timing' function. In Field 2 (adjust ignition offset ) and enter -155, then select 'done'. Nothing changes in the 'Trigger offset' field. Im not sure if im doing it correctly.

I opened the 'Trigger Scope' Function and I get nothing displayed. Iv tried adjusting the sample rate, and the voltage and I get nothing under either triggers. Im not sure why, I get an RPM signal in the runtime values. I took a recording of a log while cranking if that is any help.

Youve got to hit enter after typing in the -155, you should see the number turn blue.

For the trigger scope you've got to click the capture button while the engine is cranking.  Here is a quick video:  https://1drv.ms/v/s!AiYbYlZQuRHPmidU5V2CmTcv6t2y?e=7Suvzr

The RPM looks a bit unstable in the log so it would be good to see a triggerscope next.
