Impreza V5/V6 Plugin with AVCS

Hi,

So I have a V6 Impreza but blew up the original engine on the way back from the Nurburgring last year.  I have replaced it with a single AVCS EJ207 from a V7 JDM STi.  When it comes to setting the ECU up would it be better to load up the V7 basemap and then just change the inputs/outputs and my wiring to suit?  I'd have to make a certain amount of changes anyway due to AVCS having to use certain inputs to drive the solenoids and this should load more suitable settings for the injectors/ISC/ignition advance etc.

Also, I'd quite like to switch from wasted spark to direct spark as I have kept the V7 COP's.  But this leaves me with very few outputs :(  Can the board be modified to allow any more of the outputs to be enabled?  Is there any disadvantage to staying wasted spark?

Thanks, Paul

I would suggest sticking with the V5/6 map since it matches your pinout, open two instances of PC Link side by side with your V5 map open in one and the V7 map open in the other.  Copy the relevant settings across.  Really just trigger, VVT and idle from memory.

I think you should be able to get away with it if you are changing to the V7 idle valve that will free up 3 extra aux outputs.  There is no big advantage to direct spark Vs wasted spark until you get up to very high RPM (you will start to run out of dwell time around 10000RPM), a small advantage of direct spark is you can do individual cylinder knock control - compared to wasted spark on the G4+ you have to retard 2 cylinders at once for knock control.
