Changing cam timing will affect the VE, MAP, overlap, reversion, scavenging, charge robbing, and many other factors. Whichever of those factors combined has the strongest influence will determine if the mixture changes and what direction it goes. There is no blanket rule that says AFR will go lean when you advance a cam. In fact it will usually be significantly different from one RPM band to the next. You need to tune valve timing the same way you tune ignition timing and injector timing, adjust the cam while monitoring the torque output.
