Sensors to run with a Monsoon.

Imperial Express

Recommended Posts

Hi , looking for advice on what / where to get sensors for a Link Monsoon.

Looking for the following-

Speed sensor (I will machine a toothed wheel)

Oil pressure with 1/8 - 27 NPT

Water temp with m12 x 1.25

Intake Air Temp (also where is the best position to mount this, ie at the very start of the inlet or just above the inlet bellmouths?)

These are to used on a Kawasaki ZX14 dragbike setup.

Cheers

Speed:  The ZF GS range are good forgiving sensors that work with a wide range of tooth sizes and air gaps etc.   GS1005 (Threaded long & skinny); GS1007 (Threaded short and fat); GS101201 (flanged mount).

Oil Press:  the Link PS150 (variohm) is very reliable (1/8 NPT), or the Bosch 0261230340 combined press & temp is also good (M10 x 1 but most places that sell them offer an NPT adapter).

ECT: I dont remember ever coming across one in M12x1.25.  A common Bosch size is M12 x 1.5.  Otherwise you could possibly go for something bigger like the common GM/delphi/packard 3/8NPT or M14 one and machine it down?

Air temp: The 1/8 NPT ones with the DTM connector like the Link #IAT1-8 are a good fast response sensor but the plug can break off easy if they are mounted somewhere where you are likely to bump them hard or work often.  If they are reasonably tucked out of the way then they are a good.  The #IATB are also nice sensors but the flange mount is a bit more difficult to fabricate.  Location isnt generally too critical on a NA engine, just somewhere that the air stream going towards the engine is moving over.
