lekonna
Hi, could not find this in the documentation, what is the connector type for the serial connector? I want to make a can cable.
Dave Kriedeman
What do you need to connect the CAN to. I just use another ViPEC PC cable, cut he USB end off. If you need to connect to a serial type port, then the connector required is a DB9.
Simon
We can also do a CANF which is a field installable connector that is able to have wires soldered direct to it.
lekonna
duh guys, the reason i'm asking is that the vipec version of the cable costs stupid amounts of money where the connector and contacts are dirt cheap. same thing with the amp superseal connectors that are the main ecu cons. can you please just give me the vipec side connector type designation and i'll go buy it. -)
Dave Kriedeman
Purely a suggestion, When you post a question from now on, How about adding all the details in the original post. Twice i have responded to different posted questions buy you, You then procede to reply and include the extra detail required for you to seek the correct answers. We are all here to help each other. Responding to your requests is made far easier if you give ALL the details. I believe both Simon and myself have answered your question correctly, considering what is in your original post. There was no mention of cost etc, until now. Take no offence to this, I am just trying to point something out. Responding with DUH, wasn't required,we answered the question with what information you gave us.

lekonna
Simon, can you dig out the connector type from your hardware guys, or from some docs or so ? also the pin descriptions would be nice. once i get my project running i can post a thread, idea is to have a cheap display to display some ecu stats. currently i've got a 2x16 backlit red serial lcd connected to arduino and can shield. I'll publish all the codes and stuff required once i get it working.
