Allan Weir
Hi I am using a G4 on a 16valve VW engine and are just setting the base parameters and was wondering how to enter the crank trigger wheel. It has 58 teeth with 2 missing. Do you enter this a 60 tooth wheel with 2 teeth missing or a 58 tooth wheel with 2 teeth missing ? Thanks Allan
Denis Tan
When using a trigger wheel with 58 teeth and a gap where two teeth are missing (ie there would be sixty teeth if they were not missing), set the Tooth Count value to 60 and Missing Teeth value to 2. Note that this is generally known as a '60 minus 2' trigger wheel. Above are extracted from help in G4 software Denis
Allan Weir
Thanks for that. I started the engine this morning and looked at the trigger errors and found when I changed the count to 60 teeth the error rate was zero. Sounds great on the base map. Jurgen Biggelaar
Hi Allan. Denis is bang on. Don't forget you can only run group fuel/ignition with just this as your triggering (60-2 on the crank). This would go to TRIG1 which you have obviously figured out, but a sync pulse on the cam will be needed if you want to run wasted spark or sequential fuel/ignition. The other option is with 60-2 on the cam, you can run sequential too. Jurgen
