Nick Fouhy Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 Question of the day, I have gotten a lem-v3 ecu (off my brother in law) Its been currently running a GTI-R pulsar with a gt3040 ect. I understand that it will need to be changed to the application Im needing. Maybe possibly a software upgrade. Are the v3's upgradeable to v5 status/software ? And what cost am i looking at ? Its going to be running a L28et with wastered spark. Cheers Quote
aaron.miller Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 HI NICK IM IN THE SAME BOAT AS U. UN SCREW THE TOP COVER AND THERE WILL BE NUMBERS ON TOP OF CHIP THAT WILL TELL WHAT CHIP U HAVE AND IF ITS SOFTWARE UPGRADEABLE WHAT TIPE OF Z CAR U GOT DO U LIVE IN THE WELLINGTON AREA ? WOULD LOVE 2 CATCH UP WITH OTHER PEOPLE WITH Z CARS ? Quote
Guest Dave Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Yes the ecu is upgradeable but will not have the extra ouputs that the V5 had What type of triggering does the L28et if it is similar to the GTI-R then you will not need to do an upgrade unless you want the features of the V5 software Regards Dave [email protected] Quote
ashesman Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 We need to know what sub-board is fitted to the ECU. Take the top off and look at the numbers on the little circuit board that sits above the main board. Attach a photo and I will let you know what it is setup for... Quote
Nick Fouhy Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 Aaron.. Yes im in wwellington.. But have a r30 coupe. No Z'd serries sorry. The l28 setup im using can use two ingniton triggers. I have the normal optical CAS inside the dizzy which is pretty common. But i was wanting to delete the whole dizzy as it is and run a crank driven pickup. Another L28 factory setup, (used vacume/avance dizzy) Quote
aaron.miller Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 WOULD BE GOOD 2 C YOUR SET UP .SO WHEN I PUT MY TUBO ENGINE IN IVE GOT A NOTHER L28 2 COMPAR. IM IN NAENAE GIVE ME A BUZZ IF U KEEN 5771114 .IM LOOKING 4 A CRANK ANGLE SYSTEM THEY RAN ON L28 IN THE 81 MODEL IS THAT WHAT YOUR RUNING ? Quote
Nick Fouhy Posted February 1, 2008 Author Report Posted February 1, 2008 I have three setups, one that the l20et runs, (optical pickup inside the dizzy) And then the normal vacume avanced dizzy that came with the l28e. The last is the crank mounted pickup system that was off the early l28's Delivers the same signal as the optical dizzy system. Im wanting to go this way to get rid of the dizzy And run a external coil on plug setup. The following numbers i have atm off the main chip. are as follows D42V3 16/01/02 Quote
Nick Fouhy Posted February 2, 2008 Author Report Posted February 2, 2008 Yeah thats what im running is the 81 Crank driven CAS, Im not sure if the link will run that setup (not a 35/1 tooth ect setup) Ive just gotten some Subaru coils with the ignitors built in, So thats that head acke out of the way.. Chuck me a txt on 0210327731, Im in the nui! Quote
ashesman Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 It is set up for a distributed Nissan engine that has ECCS crank angle sensor (360 and 6 slots). You will need to get a sub-board swap done to change it for the L28 setup. You could also get it upgraded to V5 if you want. Note that the money you could sell this for plus the price of an upgrade will not be far off the cost of replacing it with a G3 ECU that will work with pretty muchly any engine. Nick Fouhy Posted February 3, 2008 Author Report Posted February 3, 2008 Whats the cost alone for the subboard change ? Do i have any benifit of upgrading thr software to the v5 version? Does that give me more tunning maps? (detail ect) The orginal CAS on the l28 i was going to use was the 360deg/6slot dizzy/cas But i presume since im wanting to use coil on plug (subaru with ignitors built in) It has to be changed ? ashesman Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 If your CAS has 360 and 6 DIFFERENT WIDTH slots then it will work with the sub-board you already have. However, to run multi-coil you will need a V5 upgrade. Contact [email protected] for more details on the upgrade and a price. It is policy not to put pricing on the forum... Nick Fouhy Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks ive emailed. Just looking at my CAS now. And its 360deg slotted and has 6 identical slots on the inside. SO looks like it wont work Quote
ashesman Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 No, even slots means the engine will run as "1 tooth per TDC" using the even width slots. That would require a generic hall sub board. I also believe that you may have to adjust the rotor offset by drilling a new rotor pin hole...
