4wd30s13
hey all. quite new to the tuning side of link ecu, mainly this old girl any how. was tuned 4 20det and is now on my 25det.have managed to lock in/set timing and is driveable.before driving i was able to switch between narrow & wide band 02 senser. have installed wide band now and can not 4 the life of me find where i can switch it over to wide band .. ive skimmed through these forums and read about closed loop and open loop lamba.. this is new to me as ive only tuned a megasquirt myself so far.. is this a kind of auto tune feature? is this why i can not turn knock control on? what/how should i set this knock control up/to? next is cam rpm.gathering this is vct? on @1100 rpm and off @4500 as stock specs? is there any way/shortcut key to select a target zone over say 10 or so slots to alteradjust multiple slots or is it good ole square by square? lol if this is the case is there a base map i can get for a 25det or keep on keeping on with the tune thats slowly but surely forming shape? cheers ps am using derial link to pc for tuning Edited May 19, 2016 by 4wd30s13
Simon
HIThe G1 GTS plugin did not support wideband input it can only accept a 0-1 volt signal (narrowband)Knock is just a case of setting to on and then configuring the base and rate of rise for the noise threshold. For the tuning its one cell at a time.CAM control is a simple on at xxx and off at xxx as you thought.Things have come a long way over the last 20 years, the g1's are a very basic unit. 4wd30s13
ok,will be disconnecting the wide band from sending signal into ecu before next start up bwahaha... so its all watch the afr, thats cool lol and for some reason it wont let me turn the knock detection on. i select on, apply it. change screen, then go back into it and it says off again? nissans factory base timing is @ 15 degrees btdc, this is what i should be locking the timing @,correct? not 10 btdc as i interpreted from the manual? the knock detections still setup 4 the 20det aswell atm once i can get it on,& a friend has head phones wired "some go go gadget contraption" into a knock senser of his own were hoping to install this weekend coming... if i get a good pink/deternate do the g1 have a rich & retard setup like the factory ecu or will it just show up that its pinking? were just tuning it at 10 psi for now, how far advanced under load would ya say "danger will robinson" is? or the ole creep it on, then back her off a tad? cheers 4 the help mate, hope im not rubbing ya up with all my questions lol i know the g1s basic but compared to a mega squirt "with auto tune" it takes a lil bit more brain functioning lol Edited May 20, 2016 by 4wd30s13

Simon
The base timing needs to be set to a nice figure normally 5 or 10 BTC. This figure is then the minimum advance the ECU can run.I think with out modifying the CAS 5 will be about all you can get. Don't worry about what the stock timing is for base. Also make sure you check it from an HT lead between the coil and plug not off the factory timing loop. Not sure why the knock is turning off. It might be a PC link issue. Would need a hand control to test. When knock is functioning it will retard timing but not do any fuel changes. The changes are only short term too so that when the key is cycled it will revert to original map.No Idea on what levels of advance you would expect to be able to run as I have tuned all of 2 engines in my 16 years of tech support. I just know how the functions of the ECU work. Some of the Tuners might advise.
4wd30s13
cool as mate. yeah got the knock detection working.lights up big red columns so is easy to spot out the corner of my eye yeah had it locked in @ 10 degrees btdc. cant get the idle to work though. as soon as plug in iacv it revs 2 about 1200 rpm.even if setting it @ 600 on the ecu. will clean steeper moter and have another crack. is running quite well really 4 being a 20det tune and all/work in progress... comes on full boost @1650/1700 rpm which is grouse "not in these wet nz conditions atm though lol".the ign advance is set @ 27 degrees in the ign graph screen. should that be set @ 10 degrees 2? is that what ecu thinks it @? or is that whats its previously been set up to allow? Simon
I can't remember on these units if the base timing is on top of the table figures. You will need to check this with the timing light. to see if the timing matches the table.
4wd30s13
next completely mis-described question lol. i cant seem to alter the kpa columns? as in i want more down low 4 cruising/idle?
Simon
Yep no option to move the row or columns on the G1 they are fixed position.
