  1. just use analog input with custom map ?
  2. standing mile with the supra. my oil pressure limit hit at 5th and 6th gear so had to lift off the throttle, so not very good results :/ if somebody has oil pressure logged on fifth and sixth gear pulls on 2jz-gte, please gimme some numbers. would like to know if my 4.2bar is too low oil pressure or too high limit
  3. i got one unused, can sell it to you if you like. throw me a pm.
  4. that map limit seems a bit low to me, did you check from the logs that its not hitting any limits? are the limits configured as fuel cut? i had an issue in the dyno where from the MAP logs it looks like i'm not hitting the limit, but since the log is slower than what is actually seen by the ECU the map limit status went up and it started cutting the ign.
  5. i was going to go for the similar setup, for some reason i don't have any timers to select in the aux output menu, sup with this? do i need to be connected to the ecu for these to show up?
  6. sounds like sound advice from dave there. can you go through the exact symptoms once more? eg. "the engine starts normally, then starts to lean out and no adjustment seems to fix this?" how is your fuel tank ventilation handled? can you give a complete description on the fuel system, any catch tanks, what pumps, what filters, what material is the hoses, what is the fuel used, ect ..
  7. i wanna hear this thing rev!
  8. haha! how the heck did i miss that one
  9. Thanks guys, the exhaust housing is #16 and its 71.5/71mm wings. The fuel is RE85, ignition is at 5800 around 15-deg and 19 deg at the end. i can attach the map if anyone is intrested.
  10. sorry for the OT but DAMN! this sounds like an interesting build! please add pics and videos somewhere once the problems are sorted out.
  11. this just in: changed the turbo from hx50 to pro52, man what a difference. also the wastegate is now a real deal turbosmart and not a chinese copy. made the boost target to start with 1bar at the spool to cut down the horrendous torque spike and then raised it to 1.4bar. which in this case with 19-degrees of ignition advance at top resulted in 765hp. as i set a target of 770 before hitting the dyno, i quit there. more boost in the fall with bigger target then. The turbo is phenomenal, it hits the target boost around 4000rpm and keeps pulling till the redline which is at 7900.
  12. all ignition and injector outputs also used ?
  13. 2.25" .. that cannot be right. with a inline 4-cyl with 2.3l displacement, i've seen a almost 500rpm difference in spool with 42mm -> 38mm runner diameter, with nothing else changing. smaller diam manifold will allow for faster flow which should spin the turbine faster. of course it will start to restrict at some point when the speed of the gas raises nearer to mach 1. Anyways, i doubt that the channels in the head are 2.25", and thats where the gas is at its hottest ..
  14. i've got a holset pro52 turbo currently. its comp:71.5/98mm turbine:71/86mm with i think #16 turbine housing. specd at 94lbs/min. it is quite a big turbo But it works much better than the old hx50 i had with 80mm turbine, 67compressor and #23 turbine housing. spools faster and the response to transients is much better. The reason the boost target is curved is that i try to avoid the torque max during spool-up to keep some traction, i'm having issues on third gear with just 1.2bar boost already, as you can see from the rpm curve. Need some dyno time to dial in rest of the gears and full boost .. What cams are you running, and which engine? What is the diameter of your exhaust runners? these i've found to have a huge effect on the spool. I personally don't like the 3076 since its not balanced to my mind. it has too small turbine compared to the compressor, the 3582 is better in that aspect.
  15. btw, how is your WG connected? I started having problems with my china WG and switched to a real turbosmart. Also modified so that it connects to the boost solenoid from the top port. this seems to give pretty damn good control over the boost. Also i use the MAC boost valve, i had a saab T7 solenoid previously but it could not move enough air to keep the WG closed. P=5,I=0.1, D=3 50kpa,20kpa,10kpa
  16. you sure your exhaust manifold or wg or turbine housing ect is not leaking ? sounds like a air leak before the wb to me .. just fixed issue on ny 2jz with a china-made exhaust mani, the runners on that thing were just so wide that the toyota gasket was not wide enough, had to fill the snot out of em. ..
  17. would be great to see a video explaining how this is done

    smooth

interpolate feels like it just steamrolls the hell out of the area based on the border data, its not actually doing smoothing.

    smooth

this might be a silly question, but yet again i fail to find this from the help. do we have a "smooth" type of option for selected are on a map? for example if my fuel map looks like the himalayas at some point, is most likely due to the fact that the mixture correction has only affected one cell and because the mid values are interpolated the cell next to that reads as the opposite and will get reduced, and so forth. what i'd like to see is a button that helps me average out a selected area bit by bit. so that it would bring all of the values closer to the average on that are with each consecutive button press.
  20. nice work man! good to see finally some real dyno sheets from the EFR turbos. Looks like the spool is where it was with the GT35R but there is 150hp more power, i'd say it looks like a good turbo of course RE85 helps also.
  21. wtf, how is that possible? they should not be in any way connected physically? how was it installed?
  22. mine is mounted in the engine bay and working fine so far.
  23. i bought a sensor that does this, it outputs the differential pressure. has worked great so far. http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/differentia ... p-127.html that one.
  24. usually before upgrading from a working setup, i take a good look at the change list to determine if there is anything there for me to justify the upgrade. currently vipec holds this information in the documentation, which means you have to install the software to get the data. here is the beans for this release, all the way up to the previous one that was available for general public: Release Version 4.x.x.1467 (DLL rev 1466) New Features · Support added for Arctic Cat M800 plug in ECU. Changes · TP Calibration and MAP Calibration can now be performed when password protection is enabled. Release Version 4.x.x.1457 (DLL rev 1349) Fixes · There was a short freeze after storing changes to the ECU. Release Version 4.x.x.1454 (DLL rev 1349) New Features · Signed Windows 8 drivers (V6.6.1) are now included in the Vi-PEC Tuning Software install. · Views can now be dragged off the side of the layout page to make larger layouts. This also improves dragging views that are already partially off the screen. Changes · Barometric pressure when used as a axis on a table can now be spanned from 60-110 kPa. · TPS delta can now go negative when used as a table axis. · Then runtime values form will now hide if a settings item is clicked (eg a table opened). · The popup message that appears when hovering over settings menu items now only displays once then disappears for good. Fixes · When a store was done all cell markers were cleared. Only value changed markers should have been cleared. · The new firmware updater would present a "no com port handle" error under some circumstances. · The new firmware updater did not reconnect to the ECU after a firmware update if manual baud rate was selected. · Sometimes when opening settings they would not open but instead jump to another locked settings panel. · Auto connect did not work immediately after being enabled. Required software to be restarted before it would work. · If Vi-PEC Tuning Software was closed with a layout page having views off the top of the screen, when it was reopened, the views would be permanently stuck off the top of the screen. Test Version 4.x.x.1392 (DLL rev 1349) New Features · Communications speed has been increased. This should result in a faster recovery from errors and a higher packet and logging rate. · Communications baud rate can now be set manually to allow ECU communication over slower communications channels eg radio modems. · A slow connection option has been added to allow more stable communications when communicating over slower connection channels. · Firmware update is now done entirely inside Vi-PEC Tuning Software. This allows selecting of different firmware versions and resolves issues with the external firmware updater program. · Reversible load axis. Tables can now have their load axis reversed individually. This allows the table rows to go up or down the screen with increasing load. · Surface view can now be zoomed and rotated with the keyboard. · When editing table values you can now type 'r' or 'c' to apply the change to an entire row or column. · ECU USB Drivers have been updated to Windows 8 Compatible V6.6. Changes · ECU USB Drivers have been updated. This resolves issues with incompatibility with some NVIDIA drivers and communications not working on some USB ports. · RPM is forced to zero when going offline. This prevents setting that can not be changed while the engine is running being locked out after going offline. · Many spelling mistake and typo improvements. · Printout menu items and toolbar buttons have been removed. · The current file name is now cleared when connecting to a new ECU to prevent accidentally saving over the file of a previously connected ECU. · PC Logging rate can now be increased to match the connected data rate. Fixes · Undo short term changes sometimes undid changes from too far back. Now will only revert to the currently stored setting. · Extrapolate functions did not work correctly when extrapolating from values on the edge of a table. · Digital gauge did not draw correctly when it had no parameters selected. · The logged value cross hairs were sometimes in the wrong place on a table when switching between layout pages. · Improvements to table drawing to prevent table name drawing over axis labels. · Layout files would not open correctly when the Windows locale settings were set to European decimal separator format (eg 12,3 rather than 12.3). · The back/forward arrows on settings panels did not always operate correctly. · Some tables (eg dual map limits and firing order table) did not update when their axis setup was changed. · When a settings panel is in front of other views, after changing a setting it would go behind the other views (lose focus). · Start in full screen mode did not work correctly. · Switching between logging and ECU display modes caused new layout pages or views to be lost. · The location where "quick viewed" log files are stored to is now correctly remembered. · The accel load correction table was not visible when the wake up function was turned on. · A warning occurred when turning 3D injection timing on and axis were not set up correctly. · Could drag parameters onto the runtime values window but they wouldn't be remembered there. · Background image did not always draw correctly at startup.
