Guest |851|
heres my project: '95 mkiv supra 6-speed manual, JDM supra, shipped to ireland where its had 7 different owners before it got shipped to finland to me. it was in pretty sorry shape, clearly had been crashed at some point in the front end, but runs straight. I've got no idea whats inside the engine, it has been opened at some point also. There was oil everywhere (and still is). first order of business was to get rid of the twin setup new fuel pumps and lines fix the china exhaust mani to actually separate the pulses all the way to the wg downpipe and exhaust 3.5" holset hx50 turbo "new" used clutch with some fabrication done to get it sit inside the housing fun discoveries while building: throttle body got stuck sometimes, wonder why: coolant fuild wans't exactly fresh: here is the dyno pull with 1.55bar boost running E85 plans are to open and change the insides to the engine, increase the compression ratio, change the cams and related stuff and paint the car during the winter. So far vipec has worked perfectly, i'm really happy with it.
Guest |850|
Nice, thanks for sharing. Looks like this car has been lucky to find you! Do you still use the factory PCV valve set up? Could you please post a picture or two of it?

Guest |851|
the machine is out and i'm cleaning the engine bay. following list going in to the car: 9.5:1 cp pistons, the final compression ration will be depending on he squish clearance around 9.6-9.8 eagle rods acl bearings sparco bucket seats roll-cage 034 coils new wiring harness (i'll post pics later) 272/9.45mm cams adjustable cam gears bc springs / retainers new valve locks arp head studs i'm aiming for bit better throttle response, hoping the increased compression ratio will help there, also the original coils ran out of juice end of last season running around 1.6bar of boost so upgrading those as well. lekonna
stripped the car down cage installed and a new coat of paint back from the paint and started installing skirts, spoiler, doors, interior .. high cr engine, around 10.4:1 coming together the block is pretty rusty from the inside on the water passages, ah well .. atleast the stuff that could be is now machined to spec. made a housing for electric fans powder coated stuff things to be done: - finnish the engine, waiting for the head and few o-rings for the oil-pump. - install bucket seats and racing harness - new engine wiring from tt-speed. - make a bracket for the 034 coils - powder coat the fan housing, intake manifold, valve covers .. actually, there is such a shitload of things to be done that it is better to not think about it think i'll head back to the garrage now .. Sutkale
Under 1000hp from Supra is nothing... Great work..
lekonna
this just in: changed the turbo from hx50 to pro52, man what a difference. also the wastegate is now a real deal turbosmart and not a chinese copy. made the boost target to start with 1bar at the spool to cut down the horrendous torque spike and then raised it to 1.4bar. which in this case with 19-degrees of ignition advance at top resulted in 765hp. as i set a target of 770 before hitting the dyno, i quit there. more boost in the fall with bigger target then. The turbo is phenomenal, it hits the target boost around 4000rpm and keeps pulling till the redline which is at 7900.

lekonna
standing mile with the supra. my oil pressure limit hit at 5th and 6th gear so had to lift off the throttle, so not very good results :/ if somebody has oil pressure logged on fifth and sixth gear pulls on 2jz-gte, please gimme some numbers. would like to know if my 4.2bar is too low oil pressure or too high limit
Sutkale
Hard to say what is right pressure and what is not. I´ve got around 5,5 bar in Volvo engine with big wet sump pump, so your 4,2 is not that bad. But I know that 1,5 bar is too low causing rod bearing failure..
