its on mechanical itb's so no option to close the throttle
thats indeed how it feels now , hitting a wall ,
it does it every time , i was spectating on the end of the same stage multiple times and its just pushes over the rpm's
it starts softcutting and then goes complete silent , just to pick back up later and doing it again
-
i have a rally car in the shop which has the drivers complaint of running through the softcut in 6th gear. it has a powerband that runs until 150 rpm before the limiter. so when in top gear i assume the car had enough momentum to push the engine over its set hardcut.
i have not yet had the time to check the settings but i would assume its on the settings the extreme basemap is on.
do i need a wide range , or small range ? do i start at low % cut or high% cut ? right now the driver has to modulate the throttle to not get the "hitting the wall" feeling.
the ecu has no sensor on the dog roll so i cant setup a different 6th gear setting , also no speed sig -
the car i'm working on has a weird issue , sometimes the can data doesnt reach the MXL display
it does in most cases but on an occasional event the coms stay dead , nothing on the display , restarting the vehicle cures this.
what should i check ? does it need terminating resistors on the can line ? is there some advised startup ? its a racecar so everything turns on at once , no ignition barrel -
i got this all working , pid control was setup in 15 minutes and very very solid on the target , made a solid 260 flywheel HP out of a 2000cc engine , limit were the rpm's at 7600 due to the hydro lifters , would have made heaps more when it could rev higher
thanks all for your inputs -
i've thought about this to but there is a significant downside in spoolup time and driveability with the valve closed. I would go for a TPS value as that rises before the boost comes on
i just run my valve with a switch -
i was more looking to PWM it to get some variable speed , but then i would need a pwm ss relay i assume
so i'm looking for advise on that
also i would really need some automotive stuff , not the house stuff -
i plan on using this kit:
https://boostdoc.com.au/collections/outlets/products/ewp-electric-water-pump-kit-for-rb?variant=41265114382492
i would prefer to not use that controller , can i control this pump via my Extreme ecu ? what hardware is needed and whats the control strategy -

i did some on 1000 1100 1200 1300 1400 1500 rpm etc
the cam pattern is factory clio mk3
the crank is 60-2 -

For a generic multi-tooth/missing trigger mixed with OEM cam pattern you will likely need to use cam window or cam level sync. Or it may be a close enough match to one of the other OEM 60-2 based trigger modes. The cam sensor needs to be wired to trigger 2 then give us a trigger scope capture at idle with the vvt solenoid unplugged and we can advise on the sync set-up with that.
@Adamw where should i send the trigger scope images to ? i took a few on different idle rpms
-
I've got a car in for a tune , i went to connect my CanLambda like usual and the ecu gives me errors on can2 as soon as i setup the can menu for the canlambda , when i try can1 the laptop disconnects , whats going on here ? i've done this heaps of times , allways works perfectly
G4+ 300z plugin on RB25det -
i'll get that trigger scope image when i'm with the car
as for the vvt , i tried higher in the rpms to to have some more oil pressure , its about 6 bars there , at idle its 2, it doesnt make a difference at all
sp back to the engine builder it is -
@Vaughan yes running only on crank now , the cam sensor is on the cam , not the pulley , so it would be phazing compared to the crank when the vvt would work , it is a continuesly moving type
the flywheel is changed @Adamw , so thats why i cant use the clio 3 mode. is there any way i could setup 720 sync mode with the cam sensor on the cam itself ? i believe a JZ also uses only 2 sensors for sync and vvti ?
i'll move the output over to an aux pin, i tried the on test mode (confirmed steady 12V and ground over the solenoid with a multimeter backprobing) its not making any difference.
the only thing right now i'm unsure of is my technique of using the "absolute vvt position menu" to check if the cam moves , as it doesnt move at all , i cant hear a difference , and it should move 40 degree cam so that would be definatly hearable.
i've seen the plunjer move while i took it out ,
i can hear it click ,
i've confirmed 12V over the valve with engine running and in "test on" mode
40 degree of cam movement would cause a massive difference in afr readings so i am quite sure it doesnt move at all, just need confirmation i did all correctly ecu wise before i send it back to the engine builder for the second time now -
Hi all,
clio MK2 with mk3 head , pulley , solenoid and cam sensor.
Extreme Wire in ecu , cut of the old ecu (which ran the on/off type vct) , installed an Extreme instead.
engine is build(not by me) with catcams 300degree cams for vct. also has stronger valvesprings.
engine runs semi-sequential (as before) on a aftermarket 60-2 crank wheel. I do not run it full sequential. engine only has 1 cam sensor on the (normally) moving cam.
vvt solenoid is running on injector output 6(it does pwm , i took the solenoid out of the head and confirmed it worked when tested) , cam signal is working (hall) and i tried to use this on Trig 2 and on DI1.
when i try to set it up there are some weird issues. sometimes when i initiate the calibrating position it doesnt recognise the tooth offsets , when i set that menu on inlet cam 1 i can see allmost steady numbers in the F12 vvt menu.
another weird thing is i sometimes see numbers : 68-151-331-608 , sometimes i see 247-427-511-691 , i would assume this is due to running semi sequential. when i enter the numbers manually i get no vvt error counters. i am unable to automaticaly let the ecu fill in the numbers there.
biggest problem is i am unable to see the cam move. i can pwm or 100% turn on the solenoid and the cam doesnt move at all. the numbers in the absolute vvt position menu stay exactly the same.
i have zero experience with these engines , when i setup subaru's its so easy i dont even remember how i set it up there. But this engine stays in the calibrating menu without saving the counted teeth or offsets.
what am i missing here

Know this is an older post but would you be able to share a link or part number to the AEM disc?

i havent openen your files but i tune alot of these , they do stick , check the filter baskets in the banjo bolts for blockage.
but even when perfectly fine on mechanical level , they do stick
there is a spring pressured plunjer which locks them in rest mode when there's insuffcient oil pressure -
thanks for the replies
i was mostly looking for the setup in the ecu, the fuel mode etc
i have no map , only tps , the car allready had the baro externally , i replaced the ecu to a Link
its an MK2 Renault clio with a MK3 "vvti" head , it has itb's , fuel injectors are behind the butterflies i believe(so in vacuum)
the fuel injection timing question was more of a question is it worth the effort ? or do i used a fixed number
-
How do i go setup wise ? never tuned in alphaN mode
i would assume tps vs rpm in the tables
what do the settings need to be ? i have a tps and a baro sensor ,
iat is in the airbox so that normal
how important is fuel injection timing ? -
i assume its a 99 as it has a stepper motor
so 2 triggers , ect , iat , tps
4 injectors , 2 ignitions
boostvalvetacho
fan relayidle (4?? outputs)
and ecu hold power (di + aux ?)map is onboard
fuel pump is separate
why shouldnt a Monsoon be enough ? -
i got a 98 gc8 here which has the oem ecu connector cut of , so i need a wire in now , would a Monsoon be the way to go ?
wiring it up like factory so with the ecu hold power function enabled -

Hi all,
i've been there a few times : i order a plugin for the customer and the car doesnt have a factory ecu available. So where do people find the files to print some cases ? i now need some for the wrx6 plugin , but might also need one for a gtrx plugin in the future -
Hi,
i need some extra pins for a wire in setup , i've had some good experience with the pins sold in the connector kits
is this part nr 3-1447221-4 ? these seem to be out of stock eveywhere
1437284-9 is in stock but i'm unsure if thise will work -
i've had them wrong in the past and its very obvious , they wander like crazy then
also: polarity is the same as the front cam sensor in the connector view
all cam sensor are same polarity in the plug , crank is opposite -
Hi all,
currently converting a clio 2 rallycar to extreme ecu.
its on itb's , no map sensor , on/of type intake cam, only has crank position (converted to 60-2), no cam sensor
engine will be rebuild: higher CR , different cams , and MK3 head , which has VVTI.
whats my game plan here ?
-i need a cam position sensor for the vvti
-the solenoid will be changed to a pid controlled one
so i assume i cannot use the "clio 3" preset since i have no cam timing sensor(or can i use the cam position in a custom setup ?)
note i have no experience with this motors so i'm all ears

depends a bit , mine doesnt really move on idle rpms , you can hear it do something but not much
when on 1500rpm its day and night difference.
stock oil pump , 10W40 , oil retrictors as per PRP latest, tomei 256/256
