  1. i am getting  a steady .02 V (see log) when not connected and this voltage appears to continue to be additionally a portion of the value read by the ECU when connected.

this is evidenced by temp readings of 100 F when the ambient is 52.

    .02 V is 5 C. 5 C being 41 F which squares with the error.

while 41 F might not sound like as much as to an EGT reading (although it is) it certainly is significant when reading IAT which is a very important metric.

it appears to me if my G4X Extreme is functioning similar to other Extremes that people should know their Temp readings are high by slightly over 40 F.

there is nothing wrong with my thermocouples or my amps or my connections.

i will adjust the calibration and all will be well.

if this additional voltage is existent it would be valuable if others were apprised.

  2. i currently run two "air" K Thermocouples and two EGT K Thermocouples into my G4X Extreme.

all four show between 103 F and 99 F yet the actual ambient temperature is 54.2.

the An Voltage readings square with the (erroneous) temperature reading. around .15/.16 V.

    4 mv = one degree C

    160 mv/4 = 40 C = 104 F

i disconnected one of the Deutsche connectors between my Thermocouple amp and the ECU and found the ECU was reading .02 of one volt.

this equates to 5C or 41 F. close enough...

why does the ECU read any input voltage when disconnected to the input source?

if this is the case what is your recommendation for a fix?

    thank you

attached find log (graph) of the voltages...

    An V 5 and 6 are connected reading around 100 F and .15/.16 V  (EGT Thermocouples)

AN V 10 and 11 are disconnected and read .02 for the whole log. (Air Thermocouples)

  3. as mentioned initially, all i get is a blank screen so i am unable to get to the (any) display page.

key on brings a red light on the right and two white. as soon as i touch any key the red light disappears and all three lights are white.

pushing the right and left Nav keys does bring up one page that has 3 vert lines. nothing else is available on the screens.

  4. thanks for the input on the weekend. i did check settings on my V88 and found my CAN configuration was "OFF."  the display did work so i assume it was working, as Adam suggests, serially. (?)

since i believe i actually did connect it properly w re to the G4X setup i am still hoping for help.

with re to Neil's question, the software instructions under DisplayLink recommends the selection of "Transmit Generic Dash."

  5. ECU is on the way to you.

looking at the log, i note that Batt V registered zero at 5:27.286

ECU Temp showed 28 C at that time.

at 5:27.383 ECU temp changed to 150 C.

perhaps a difference in the sensor speed?

the other item is that all of the 5V sensors continued to generate proper data... so while the Batt V shows zero, the 5 V output continued normal.

does this strengthen or weaken an interior ECU issue?

  6. i greatly appreciate the help extended.

i did change the multiple fuel pump settings as Adam advised and presto, all is good. i sure don't remember adding the second setting but a single proper setting restored my fuel situation.

the 5 volt Fault code (74) has yet to be conquered. i run 11 Analog Volt items. i managed to post all of them into my log page and examined them carefully. there are no breaks and nothing out of range.

i have looked for years for a global 5 volt supply read-out and have been unsuccessful. i was able to turn ANV 1 into 0 to 5 volts but the others just show the end data rather than raw V.

i did check my digital fuel pressure sensor with the key on and it was a steady 4.97 V. i will check all 5 volt items.

i did go to the Fault Settings page. all 11 are set at 0 V low and 5 V high.

i have had Fault Code 74 for many years and have never seen any break in the ANV data in my logs.

i will go out tomorrow for a short hop, generate a log and then zero in on exactly when the Fault Code is generated.

the shutdown of my motor, purely out of the blue, is my principle concern.

it has never happened before. immediately after it happened my engine would crank, fuel pressure was correct, but it wouldn't start. there was zero physical indication of anything amiss other than the motor wouldn't start. i do suspect lack of spark. the two items that caught my attention were zero battery V and 150 C ECU Temp. both happened in a tenth of a second when my motor shut down.

as to warming it up to induce... the ECU was only 28C when it happened.

then, the following morning all was well?

should it be internal, what are my options? can it be diagnosed/repaired? US or NZ?

  7. was doing a bit of road tuning yesterday and my motor shut down like someone had snipped the crank pickup. fortunately i was logging. the event happened at 2730 rpm, 1 psi boost, 22% TPS (going up an incline).

ordinarily i would just look at the log details and fix the problem, however the items that jump out from the log, as everything else was fine, were the ECU Temp going from 28 C to 150 C  in a couple of tenths of a second as well as battery voltage going from 14.65 to to zero in the same split second. these two measures happened exactly when the motor shut off.

after gathering a few of my wits at the side of the road i cranked the motor, which spun over normally, the Batt V when cranking was normal but it felt like no iGN.

after a tow home the following morning the motor started as nothing had happened. of course i am not going for a drive until i get some answers.

there are a few peculiar items in the recent maps after i re-installed the harness.

my fuel pump would not activate. it has been set at Auxiliary Output IGN 7 and has pre-cranked etc since 2013. in order to get running i de-selected Fuel Pump and selected Test (ON). no precrank but it starts with the key on. i do not understand why i have had to pick another setting. i have checked all the fuses and relays etc and of course they are all fine or the pump wouldn't run on Test.

another item is that after the shut down my Mixture Map will not work. it is blank when i right click the window.

my car is a pretty fully buit RX7 FD. ignition is 4 IGN1-A coils.

map attached. log too large but i can email it if it would help.

'hope for some help and Greetings to all the ViPEC/Link family.

  8. i ran closed loop boost control w my V88 from 2013 to 2018. this spring i decided to examine open loop. all fine until i switched back to closed loop. i must have some sort of settings problem as it is set for 238/20 psi and i get no wastegate management. zero W Gate duty cycle. boost is off the spring. i would appreciate some help and include my map. i would be happy to provide the log if necessary but it doesn't fit the file size.

thanks and still loving my V88.

  9. sure... thanks  Adam and JMP.

i have five pressure sensors working... fuel, oil, Auxiliary Injection system pressure, exhaust backpressure and boost. since backpressure compares against boost and the majority of people i share my info with think

in PSI i will just calculate Diff F P manually.

  10. i have 2 issues. one is my issue ( i am losing static pressure under boost. from 41.2 at static to 39.2 at 18 psi.)

the other issue is why i write:

my Differential fuel pressure appears to be going the opposite (rising) direction. if the pump, regulator, lines and filter are O K DFP should remain constant. rising DFP under boost points to, often, a restriction in the return line.

yet if i just do the math using my boost and fuel pressure i appear to be losing pressure under boost.

    V88.

using AN Volt 4 w Honeywell pressure sensor for fuel pressure

i attach a log.// no log, too large... can send a smaller one if necessary

    at 4:06.667

MGP Psi + 2 tenths of one psi

AN V 4 fuel pressure reads 41.4 psi

    static is 41.2

    Fuel Pressure KPA  420

    MGP 2

Differential Fuel Pressure reads 410 (doesn't quite match up but that is what it says.... close anyway)

    at 4:18.134

    MGP PSI 18.2

AN V 4 fuel pressure reads 57.4 psi

    static is 39.2

    Fuel Pressure KPA is 574

    MGP 125

    Diff Fuel Pressure 445

DFP  moved from 420 to 445?  while calculated using AN V 4 and my map sensor DFP dropped

    any ideas welcomed.

thanks and still love my V88!

  11. THANK YOU ADAM! i don't know what i did to delete the log view but your new Layout solved my problem. i wish you a wonderful Monday:)

do you have any ideas as to why my Knock readings are zero from both sensors? previously they were reading fine. i have two late model Bosch sensors and am of course running Link/Vipec internal.

    thank you,

    Howard

  12. Thank you for your reply.

i tried to post a jpeg of the screen unsuccessfuly however it is easy to describe.

Logging 1 page is entirely blank. no time data, absolutely nothing but white.  when i right click on it i get "New View." with a number of options starting w Run Time Value List, which leads to Run Time Value List Properties. other items are Digital Gauge etc.

if i go back to Logging and click Play and look over at my  Parameter List i see all the data moving but nothing but white on the Logging part of the page.

my V88 has worked fine (love it) and this is something that just happened Friday. i have attached a log

    Log 1-11-17 3;22;45 pm.llg

  13. after working fine until today all i get is white space where my Log Analysis should appear. i believe i have tried just about everything. after clicking on and calling up a specific log in spite of seeing a blank white space i am able to do a Mixture Map and Navigator. the Parameters appear.

also, my two Knock Sensors (newer style Bosch 2 rotor motor) stopped generating anything but zeros a couple of days ago. since each stopped at the same time i am concerned that something malfunctioned in my V88. settings have been verified "Internal"

    would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

  14. thanks to all the respondents. the Toshiba looks like a simple solution. i have a feeling this subject is of significant interest since we all are logging with something. any other replies welcomed.
