  1. Hi Scott,

So I backed them back, rpm to 500, TPS to zero and 5 second delay then saved it and guess what it started up and started logging so it was all my fault.

Just not sure why it logged all the other times but not this.

Anyway again you and Adam saved the day for us dumb buggers.

    Thanks for the help

  2. Figure I better put it in a separate topic,

I have a Link G4+ thunder and the race meeting before the last I downloaded the log from the ECU, I also deleted the old one, after the last track day I went to down load the file again but there was only 19 seconds of log there.  I have since tried to get it to log unsuccessfully.  So as Adam suggested I started the car and hit F12, which says its not logging and there is no used memory.  So here is a screen shot of the set up and F12.

Idea or suggestions as to what I have done wrong will be greatly appreciated.

  3. Okay so moved the volt tolerance to 0.3V and its all good.

My only issue right now is I can't get the ECU to Log anymore.  I assumed that when I down load the log file from the ECU and I tell it to delete the old one it clears space for the next one.  was this a correct assumption or not?  Or is it the case that I have remove the old file in a different way?

  4. Hi Guys been away playing with other toys and the gearbox has been out of the Subaru.

My issues was before and is today the fact that for what ever reason the log shows the gearchange dropping to zero between gears.  I also have a Race tech logger and it shows a smooth step between the each gear voltage, is that how it is supposed to be.  Here is a image of what I mean the log file is 2 hours long so not sure how I reduce its size to be able to post it.  5th gears is not showing but I think I have a voltage error in the set up for that one.

  5. Hi Scott,

This might sound like a dumb suggestion but it maybe worth you guys letting the tuner adjust that number if they want.

The reason would be that at that rate a 4 stroke engine is doing 1,200, if the tuner could adjust it he would be able to check if the spark is still good at higher rpm.  If he suspect he has a problem with a coil it would be a method to check it.  In my case I believe the plug coils I have are not making the grade but can't confirm that.

  6. Hi I want to tune the engine for TPS so as I understand I config load as BAP and the fuel and Ignition tables as Load being TPS.  The ECU is a Thunder, do I need a MAP sensor still and if so how best to use it.

Any tricks or advises would be great as well.  Thanks

  7. Hi Scott,

Right now I have a average temp probe which is on the outlet manifold its just that with the 3 I have plus oil temp I have used them all in the Thunder.

For every ones general knowledge if a Subaru engine blows a head gasket you can see it straight away in the cylinder temp on that head.  Guess it would be the same on any V type of engine.

  8. Hi Adam,

I see around 10 C difference between the heads, Subaru and I totally disagree on the way their engine cooling system is designed.  Things like thermostat in the bottom of the engine not the outlet of the engine like every other car has.  I only know of Porsche that have the thermostat in the inlet, everyone else is smart enough to have it at the top outlet of the motor which makes sense.

There are a bunch of other problems with there cooling system to long to go into here.

By the way Adam the TPS tuning is going great, thanks for your help.

  9. The critical setting in that menu is the Spark edge which is correct for you application. Assuming you are using a Subaru igniter.

Another factor that will impact the spark energy is the dwell table. The required dwell is dependent on Voltage to the coils and the type of coil.

    Hi Simon,

So is there a way to determine the correct voltage to the coils and dwell time etc?

  10. I seem to not be developing full power in my spark plugs and getting a decent spark.

The engine is a EG33, with a separate igniter that does 6 coils and has coils on each head.

What is the correct way to set up the ECU for this kind of ignition system?

    Attached is the current setup
