GJames Posted June 21, 2020 Report Share Posted June 21, 2020 Hi, Hopefully someone can make some suggestions around an issue which appears to be a fault with my Link 3 bar MAP sensor. I have a Link G4+ Storm black wire in running a 1jzgte VVti. This is using ECU hold power, it did have power back feeding issues at first but this was fixed with some diodes. Everything is working as it should accept I have had a few occasions where the engine will die while idling as well as possibly the same issue causing it to intermittently run rough under no load or just cruising at 50 or 100kph. When driving, it will all of a sudden sound like it isn't running on all cylinders, this will go away after maybe 30sec without me doing anything. Then it runs fine for the rest of the drive. The other issue is when idling at operating temp it has just died a few times now, then it refuses to start. I have found that the map sensor is reading positive pressure meaning it won't start because it in the wrong part of the fuel table. When this happens, I cannot re calibrate the map sensor in PCLink it gives an error about being out of range >5kpa <5kpa (from memory). I have to physically unplug and reconnect the map sensor and then it reads normally and it starts and runs fine. I have driven it for 20-30min before with no issues, but other times it happens within 5min. I have tried to find someone with a sensor locally to test but no luck so far. Last time I turned on logging and it idled fine for 20sec then just died, in the log the map sensor read about 4psi while idling then shot up to 28psi and died. With no input from me at all, this is when it won't start and I have to disconnect and reconnect the MAP sensor for it to go back to normal. I have checked all connections to the coils, injectors and sensors. They all seem fine and were brand new plugs and pins. It starts fine, water temp is normal and has good oil pressure. Frustratingly I took it for a 30min drive last night, logged the whole drive and had no issues. All I have changed is mounting the MAP sensor with the inlet facing downwards in case it is something to do with moisture build up. Although there was no indication of moisture in the hose or sensor. Adamw Posted June 23, 2020 Report Share Posted June 23, 2020 A relatively common problem I see is the socket/terminal not completely pushed all the way home in the DTM connector until the locking barb catches it. Then when you plug the sensor in the pin pushes back. So pull the locking wedge out and have a good look down inside that the barbs are behind the little shoulder.
