Jacky Fung
Dear All, I have a project for Mazda 121 w/ LInk Monsoon X. Attached w/ the distributor. I can get the trigger 1 signal from d, but I cannot get the trigger 2 signal. I would like to know is this distributor provide both Cam and Crank Signal? or I need to add a crack sensor to the pulley? Thanks for your help! Adamw
No, that is only a single sensor, so trigger 1 only. This trigger would only be capable of distributor ignition and multipoint group injection.
Jacky Fung
Oh. Thanks for your information. That's mean I need to install a crank sensor on the pulley, am I right? Jacky
Adamw
Yes if you added a crank wheel you could use the cam disk for sync. The cam disc would need to be modified so that the disc only has 1 slot. I have done this before using Aluminium foil tape to cover 3 of the slots. Jacky Fung
After your suggestion. the owner have tried another solution. Tried to modify and install a Honda B series distributor into the engine. I get the trigger signal as show in the attachment. However, it still no luck.... I have some question about the setting. Hope you can help to figure it out. 1. Since the engine is running in single cam, B series running twin cam. Do you think the distributor will work on it? or I need a D series? 2. we are considering to use direct spark. Seems VW coil is suitable length and size on it. May I know the setting for the coil? Rasing or Falling? Thank you very much! Jacky 121.pclx TriggerScopeLog.llgx
Adamw
The trigger looks ok. Do you have RPM showing when cranking? And spark? Have you set base timing? The VW coils use a falling spark edge. About 1.8-2.0ms dwell will do.
Jacky Fung
Yes, it have spark, we tried different offset, but still no luck... just need to check w/ you, if it seems ok, we will continue to check everything. We will take out the valve cover and distributor cover to make sure the spare order is correct and try again. Will keep you post for this project. Thanks.
