G4+ CAN Lambda & Dash help, PClink disconnects when CAN enabled!

Hoping someone can help, I am adding a new Link CAN-Lambda and also a PowerTune dash which also uses CAN, I have the CAN cable in the header on the ECU and then that goes out and then splits into 2, one goes to CAN Lambda and other goes to dashboard.

Have triple checked connections that the CAN-High and Low are all correct and not reversed or anything, they are twisted as per CANbus spec, I have just upgraded ECU to latest Firmware available and both grounds for the Dash & Lambda are terminated at same point.

The weird issue I have is soon as I enable CAN in the PClink software (with correct settings) the PClink software will instantly go offline and then I cannot connect again without power cycling the ECU, I don't understand, have tried all sorts but it will always go offline soon as I enable CAN, also tried it without powering up the Dash or Lambda, any ideas?!

What ecu do you have?  What happens if you move the CAN plug to CAN2 socket?

Its a Link G4+ in an Evo, not tried CAN2 yet as will by fiddly to pull it back out and open up again.  I had another play with it earlier and took the CAN-Lambda totally out of the equation so it was ECU direct to PowerTune Dash and it still immediately disconnected my PClink connection when I hit apply.

If I disconnect the dash so nothing is on the bus and then apply CAN settings on ECU they apply fine, only when dash connected it drops the PClink connection, just to make sure I didn't mess up which was CAN High-Lo I swapped them just to see but made no difference.

Am setting it up as per guide pics below and have checked Dash is set to 1Mbit/s and using 'Link Generic Dash' setting etc

It looks to me like you have a very early Evo8+ ecu maybe a V1.3 or 1.4 (~2013).  It has both the CAN and EXP connectors soldered on facing the wrong direction.  It is from before my time so Im not sure if it was a 1off or the whole batch was affected.  So move your CANL wire to the other side of H and you will be away.

Ahhh OK that makes sense, its a v1.4 board which I bought new in 2016/2017, will try that tomorrow then!

Oh did you say the expansion pins will be reversed as well then as I have just added 5 pins for running some new sensors as you can see in pic which I've not fitted yet so would that mean then for example Volt 10 = GND, Temp 4 = +5V etc?

Cheers for the help Adam, will confirm back if this is the case!

The pin labels on the expansion ports are correct, just the socket has the locking tab on the wrong side.

Ah that's good so nothing I need to do then as I used the labels on the board for the pins when inserting the wires I needed rather than looking at a plug ref?
