Expansion loom / changing input

Gsta

Recommended Posts

Currently in the process of wiring up my sensors on my Evo 6 with g4x 1.5pcb

Will be wiring

Oil temp/pressure

Coolant temp/pressure

Can I change the analogue input on expansion loom to ntc temp in the software?

My options are as I need 2x An temp

1. Changing analogue input to ntc temp if possible

2. Repin An temp 3 and 4 on ecu

3. Wire all sensor into my Link aims dash.

If I wire all sensor into the Link aims dash. Will the sensor still work with ecu if I wanted to set them up for a failsafe/protection etc.

  • Gsta changed the title to Expansion loom / changing input

You can't change an analog input to a temp input via the software.  You can run a temp input to an analog input if you add a 1kOhm resistor between that input and the +5V on the expansion loom (so 2 total 1k resistors in your case, 1 for each temp input).  That said, ECT already is pinned to the OEM ecu header (AN Temp 1 at pin 83) - are you wanting to run 2 separate water temp sensors?  There's AN Temp3 also on the factory ecu header for your ecu at pin 77 and listed as fuel temperature you could repurpose.

I'm not sure if the AIM dash has pullup resistors for temp sensor input either, so you may also be stuck with adding pullup resistors in your wiring to the +Vreference. (https://www.aimtechnologies.com/support/product-documentation/car-sensors/pdf/Temp/M10Data.pdf)  Certainly it's doable to wire them to the dash, create the custom calibrations for them, and then send the data to the ecu.
