Thomas Giles
I am in the process of installing a 2GR FE engine in a Mercedes 190E which is to be used for Circuit racing. The engine currently is factory stock other than Headers and custom intake manifold. I plan on using the Link G4X Xtreme ecu. My question is does anyone have experience with the power difference of bypassing the VVT system , the engine will run in the range of 3500 to 7000 RPM
Vaughan
I'm running a modified 2GR in my MR2 and from memory the intake VVT made a big difference to the mid range, that being said I do have an aftermarket cam setup so it may be different with factory cams. I didn't find any performance gains from the exhaust cam VVT however.
koracing
The Xtreme should have no problem controlling the 4 cam timing so I would personally opt to keep them functional versus eliminating for the additional midrange torque. Also this post should probably be in the G4x section.
