G1 in r33 skyline with vct not working and can't connet laptop

hey there i am trying to sort out my r33 the link dealer in Brisbane {south side dyno} have had me disappointed with there tunes with this ecu and car so i thav moved tuner but we are having issues with the lap to connecting we are using a serial link with the 9 pin to usb cable and the computer is using windows 7 is there some where we are going wrong the lap top cannot find the ecu ?? also the main reason we are doing a retune is because we have no vct working on the car its not getting a signal. any help to get this sorted would be grate

Hi,

If you can tell me what numbers are on the white sticker on the ECU board I will be able to give you some advice. Also if possible a photo of the ECU board would be useful.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the photos. I think you spoke to Simon here yesterday on the phone. The main things to check are that your USB to serial adapter is on a com port less than 10, and that it is not showing any faults in Device Manager. Some USB to Serial adptors do give trouble, so it could be worth trying another one.
