Getting the drivers sorted for my link

Hi there

Im a noob to tuning and have a fairly good IT background but i am stuggling with getting my PC and link to talk.

have read the material and downloaded the drivers and have a Serial Link with USB or serial cable options.

Laptop has xp sp3 on it.

So it goes like this...

Download Comlink zip, extract files.

Run the pre-installer, follow through the prompts and install the drivers continuing to get to the warnings, proceeding as it says to. So at this stage it has installed the files into a folder on the c drive ComLink.

Ok, now it says its ok to plug the link to the pc. At this stage Im using the USB cable between the pc and the black box which is attached to the ribbon wire which is attached to the link ecu.

Pop up in the system tray Link Communications device... righto time to get the drivers.

Go to the device in Device Manager, right click and add driver/update driver.

select the folder Comlink, and it does not appear to have worked. I got to this stage and figured that Windows must have?  or had tried to auto install another driver  or something. However since I ran the Preinstaller this would have sorted this out before i had even connected the linkto the device.

One thing I know is that the lInk is fine, the Link-SerialCom black box port is fine and that the PC detects it when its plugged in.

I have tried to even use an older laptop with a serial output and power up the loom and connect the link and even then with the com ports set up (9600) still wont even detect a thing.

Anyways what I would like to know is has anyone had these issues before...and is there a place i can bring my laptop too in Auckland and give someone some beers.

If you need more details, i can upload some screen shots... im at the stage where people have said yeah sounds like that should work but i hasnt...

If you use the serial side of the box this will be a more likely to work option as no drivers are required if you have a serial port.

It is more likely the ECU does not support PC tuning
