kimandre92 Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 Hello, I just have a quick question. I bought a Vi-Pec ECU some years back. And I can't remember the name of the store that sold it so I can't read about it on their page, and I cant find it on the vi-pec homepage. I am 99% sure it was called a "Vi-pec V44 Plugin ECU" for Nissan Silvia/180SX/200SX SR/CA Long header. I would just like to read the futures of this ecu, since I wanna check my options for running this with a dash logger. Can anyone help me out here? On the lable on the package it says: Nissan S13/S14 PCB Rev 1.2 BB V1.0 Serial # 14072 Quote

Since your serial is >10000, it means your ECU does at least have a working CAN output. So basically any CAN device that is configurable or has built in CAN templates for Vipec V series, i series, Link G4 or G4+ then it will work. Your ECU also has a RS232 output available. The reason this ECU is no longer on the Vi-Pec website is the V-series was discontinued about 5 years ago. Here is an archived version of the V44 specs page just FYI: https://web.archive.org/web/20160122231922/http://www.vi-pec.com/ecus/v44 Quote

So as long as my Dash logger have a CAN input with a template for the ECU's you mentioned I'm good to go? Not sure how the wiring works since it's a plug and play ECU? I was looking at the new AEM CD-7. I saw High Performance Academy just had a giveaway on one that was linked with a G4+ I'm building my car as I go, I have no experience myself and I've never installed a aftermarket ECU before. So it's a very rich learning experience for me. I have friends who are into tuning, engine building and whatever but I try to do most of my research so I don't have to nag at them every day. My "plan" is to make a custom cluster with nothing but the AEM CD7 in it, I have it replace everything the OEM cluster has, indicators for blinkers, fuel, water temps, etc and also have alarms for every gauge so I don't need gauges in my car Here is a picture I found that I think should give an idea I don't know to much about these dash loggers, anyone know any other brands that could do the same job for a better price? Adamw Posted March 14, 2018 Report Posted March 14, 2018 Yes the AEM dash will work. Note they do both a display only version and a display/logger version, the display only version is quite a bit cheaper if you have no need for more logging than the ECU can provide. AIM, MXS(logging) & MXS Strada(no logging), have similar functionality to the two AEM options. The Strada is quite a bit cheaper than the non-logging AEM. There are many others worth looking at that will work too: Plex tuning, Life racing, Race Technology, mechatromotive, are a few off the top of my head. Quote
kimandre92 Posted December 10, 2020 Author Report Posted December 10, 2020 I never saw that you replied to me again. But I decided to put away my car to save up some money, so not much have changed anyway :D I have the ECU box in front of me. It says: BB V1.0 PCB Rev 1.2 Serial # 14072 I took the ECU out of the box to take a look at it (it's still in it's factory sealed plastic) and there is a wire comming out of it with a round 6-pin connector. Is this the CAN output? I came across a Bosch electric pedal that I got for cheap, and I wanna run e-throttle. Does anyone know if my ECU supports this, or do I need a standalone system for it? Quote
Adamw Posted December 11, 2020 Report Posted December 11, 2020 The pigtail with the 6 pin round connector on it will be the USB tuning connection. The CAN connection uses basically the same cable - so you will need to buy another one of those cables (CANPCB) and the mating CANF plug to connect a dash. The V44 supports E-throttle using an external driver. You will also need 3 aux outputs spare and 3 extra analog inputs spare. kimandre92 Posted December 11, 2020 Author Report Posted December 11, 2020 Wow, I'm impressed I got a reply here. Figured this thread woulnt show since it's so old! There was a USB with a 6 pin laying in the box, and I saw this one was plugged into the ECU, I opened up the bag to take a look and there was an arrow pointing at it and said USB, so it seems you're right! Ok, just to be 100% sure. What you're saying is that if I get those inputs you linked above, I could run a e-thottle on my ECU? Quote

kimandre92 Posted December 15, 2020 Author Report Posted December 15, 2020 That's great. Will this use my can output? Wondering what options I have for connecting a dash display or a tablet. Also, when I'm ordering parts I figured I might buy a better map sensor than the integrated 2.5 bar one. Is there anything else I should buy once I'm at it? It's a 200sx s13 street car. Quote
Adamw Posted December 16, 2020 Report Posted December 16, 2020 I think you might have misunderstood me. You originally asked about a CAN output then fitting an E-throttle. So my answer above covered both. So the G4RET is the controller you need to buy if you want to run the E-throttle. The CANPCB & CANF are the connectors you need if you want to connect something to the CAN bus - such as a dash. Quote
kimandre92 Posted December 16, 2020 Author Report Posted December 16, 2020 Oh. Yea I miss understand you. I though I needed all those parts just for the E-throttle. Thanks for clearing it up tho! Quote
