Trigger setup for gen 1 SBC

HI,

Suit Thunder, Trying to determine the the trigger settings for a GEN1 SBC that has a hall sensor added to the distributor that provides a single pulse per full cycle of the engine, and a reluctor crank trigger for the ignition i/p, the hall reference sensor currently fires between the first and second cylinders in the firing order. ECU fires an MSD single coil ignition.

Can you confirm the number of teeth on the crank trigger?  Is it one of those “flying magnet” types with 4 magnets?

Correct, msd flying magnet, with 4 magnets.

As i use individual cylinder trims, I need to be sure of cyl 1 position, is cyl 1's  crank trigger input just prior to the reference trigger, or just after?, still not sure after looking at the help topics.

It will be the one after the reference. But to confirm you can set the ECU to direct spark so the coil only fires once in a cycle to then check with the timing light.
