  1. Hi Bruce.

The Storm has a 2.5bar MAP sensor (1.5bar positive), so will read up to about 22psi (150Kpa).  Make sure you only have 1 x MAP sensor selected in the set up or it will have issues.  If you have another wired in for some other reason, this must be selected as a GP Input on your an volt channel.

Be sure the MAP sensor in the program is selected as MAP 2.5bar, and as a test you could either measure the output wire (white) at the MAP sensor, or look at the voltage on that AN channel using your runtimes (F12).  At rest, as in key on and no engine running it should be reading approximately 1.8v (100Kpa).

Let us know how you get on.

  2. Just for a bit of info.

To run the G4 PCLink successfully, requires the G3 system to be updated with G4 firmware.  There is an additional cost to get this updated, but you can do it yourself.  Just email [email protected] for more info if ever needed.  You are dead right about the drivers, I think it is Link USB v6.1 drivers needed from memory.

  3. Hi Chris.

That voltage looks OK for a cranking speed, it is more likely to do with the arming thresholds for the triggers if anything along those lines.  I want to get more to the bottom of the problem however, as it has no spark you say.  It could be part and parcel of the triggers, but there could be a couple other things there too.

Can you maybe send us the .PCL file so we can have a quick look for anything obvious that stands out.  Is it running the standard triggering, are you running Link ignitors, are you confident in the wiring, what version firware are you using, and is this the first time the engine has run?

These are a few things to get through first, and we'll go from there.

  4. Hi Mark.  Assuming you have selected the correct ECU type in the Racepack, and judging by the cable you bought am also assuming you are running it over serial and not CAN.  There can only be one of a couple things going on.

Make sure the baud rate is set to 57600, and make sure you have unplugged the tuning cable from the ECU.  You can have a display over serial OR; tuning cable communication only at one time.

Failing this you could run it over CAN and you WILL be able to have both working at once.  Remember you must REMOVE the cable from the tuning port - Physically!

  5. Hi Matt.

Reading though the help file and some general experience should get you through.  Adjusting/guessing dead times on your injectors to adjust fueling was your first bad idea.  You should really find out what the actual dead times are, or use the default numbers in the Link example map if there is no way of obtaining these.  Dynamic fuel adjustments should be made on the fuel table after setting the master fuel number correctly.

The fan relay should be wired to an AUX, and that AUX set to Engine Fan.  The settings will come up in there to give it active polarity and on temperature etc...  As for the Variable cam timing - You do not require anything fancy unless you have the NEO head on it, as they are infinately variable however, none of the other RB's are from my undrstanding.  Just ON/OFF solenoids for oil valve like VTEC.  Like the fan, you wire the solenoid to an AUX and set that up as cam solenoid.  You also set your RPM ON/OFF points for this solenoid there too.

Read the PCLink help file - It is awesome!  There might be some good info for you to look at in the actuall Skyline plug in manual too... You can get this here - http://www.linkecu.com/support/documentation/g4-engine-management-documentation/NissanGTS

  6. Unfortunately we have not had the popular call for this to have made it in to the system Brendon.  Although you are most likely already aware, leaving the factory sensors there will still allow you to run wasted spark on that application.

  7. Impossible to find Ross.  If you hunt hard enough, there was a post on here somewhere suggesting someone had some old stock in the states I think.  I would doubt it, but may be worth a shot depending on how desperate you are.  Failing that you could upgrade to PC tune firmware, or go to a new G4 ;)

  8. Hi Felix.

No is the quick answer.  You can set up logging to be activated off your A/C button for example, not be looking at the logging screen.  Press the A/C button and it will start logging the way you have set it up ot log.  Good tip with the task manager prioritising BTW.

  9. Hi Josh.

All you will effectively do is waste 2 valuable tables that can be used for something else.  You CAN set up a table for each cylinder, that's not the problem... It would still work (looking at the tables running each coil), it would just be completely pointless to do this.  With wasted you are firing the same 2 cylinders with one ignition channel so there is just NO WAY you can have any effect over 1 of those cylinders individually.

Going multi-coil or distributed (annoyingly enough) can see you individually controlling the timing on all cylinders.  This is one of the unfortunate drawbacks of a wasted spark system, a pure physical limitation of how wasted spark works.  As for the older ECU's, the same physical limitation will exist by pure nature of the wasted spark set up.

  10. Hi Josh.

That is a bit odd.  There is 1 of 3 things possibly happening.  Either there is something weird (I will be testing this today), you don't have 'log all' turned on so the data is not there to play back, or; the data you are looking to play back has not been captured through ECU logging (as opposed to PCLink logging) as it does not capture everything... Also resulting in the data not being there to play back.

If you can definitively confirm you were playing a log back that was captured with PCLink from your laptop, and not with the ECU.  And that you do have 'Log All' selected when capturing from PCLink, that would be appreciated.

  11. Hi Gustaf.

Contact Link directly for the procurement of these items, we will sell them by themselves so people can do this.  You will find you have to order quantities of 500pcs at a time if you want to buy those suckers!

  12. Hi Simon.

There is no such feature that I can find under idle speed control in 4.5.1 or 4.8.5 (latest).  Reading the question again, are you asking... DOES it change anything in idle speed control when you use IAT trims under 'Ignition Corrections'?  The answer is no in this case, you are only affecting the ignition timing based on IAT temp if a 2D table, or anything you like if you use a 3D table.

    Hope that helps

  13. Hi Anthony.

As far as I am aware, there is nothing that the Link requires extra as it is only a low current negative signal being sent to the ignitor.  The problems you experience with your spark plugs have a few possibles ranging from detonation, to super rich warmup and a few things in between.  Have you tried using different temperature spark plugs, and what are your AFR's reading during the start/warmup phase?  Tis a strange one.

Also, can you define a bit clearer 'I have noticed some insulation with scuff marks on them though'.

  14. Bruce.

I don't think he's been successful at this stage yet.  Should be as simple as loading up the software, installing drivers, having a USB to Serial adapter that works (if you are not using a native serial port)... And hey presto!  For some strange reason, Win7 and some laptops/adapters are just very unlucky... But that is rare.

Can you define "I can't install the drivers"...
