Gregconboy158
Hi, as title have a civic 95 g4+ pnp ecu, just bought a dash2 and wanting to connect it to the ecu via can if possible? Never done or thought about anything like it before so can it be done? If so how please? Thanks, Greg
Adamw
The easiest way to access the CAN bus on a plug-in is with a CANPCB cable and the mating CANF plug. The dash2 (not dash2pro) doesnt have CAN, so you will also need to buy a race technology CAN ecu interface.
Gregconboy158
Thanks for reply Adam, would it be best to do it via serial then? What can the ecu transmit over serial to the dash do you know? Thanks
Adamw
You would still need a race tech serial ecu interface to do that (same cost), so better with the CAN one as it is more flexible.
Gregconboy158
No worries thanks again Adam, I was trying to avoid the interface from reading its a bit of a pita to set up for link but if thats the only way then not much I can do about that. Adamw
I dont remember them being difficult to set up. In fact Im sure last time I bought one they asked what ecu it was for when I ordered it and they set it up before shipping. At the ecu end you just set it to Dash2pro. https://www.race-technology.com/wiki/index.php/ECUType/LinkG4AndLINKG4XCAN
Gregconboy158
Ordered one. Im sure ill be back once installed asking for advice on how to set it up fully lol. Thanks again for your help Adam
Gregconboy158
To bump this up, got a pre config link can interface direct from Race Technology and have just installed it. I can't seem to get anything to read on the dash though? Am I doing something stupid here? Any help be great thanks
Adamw
Start by connecting direct to the ecu interface using their live monitor software to see if you have data coming out of that first.
Gregconboy158
I'll need to order a female to female db9 lead then. i've done as stated in the instructions but under streams do i need to put stuff in or will it transmit automatically? Gregconboy158
Race Technology sent me a 'link dash configuration file' I've got battery volts and ect Reading but revs nor oil pressure will read. What am I doing wrong here? The main 2 things I need and neither will read
Adamw
Can you attach that config file and your tune. Oh maybe the dash 2 file as well. The Dash2's have always been a ballache. The dash2pros that we used to sell wernt so bad but the dash2's are pretty hit and miss.

Adamw
Did they not give you a CCF file for the CAN interface? I think you are going to have to seek help from RT. Your ECU is set up correctly and since ECT is coming through it suggests your wiring etc is ok. Im not sure why they have the data source set up as a DL1 in the dash config rather than an ECU interface but there are lots of quirks like that that probably only they know. Gregconboy158
No ccf file, not sure what that is or how id obtain one? Honestly I haven't a clue, at my whits end with it. A dash of this price range shouldn't be so difficult to set up. I've tried seeking advice from them but replies are very slow and don't seem to be moving forward with it
Gregconboy158
Just to bump this, i updated the firmware on the dash which got me rpm working but still have no pressures. No fuel or oil pressure. I have x2 link 150psi sensors for these via 2 analog inputs on the expansion plug. Would this effect getting the readings over to the dash2? Adamw
Assuming the parameters oil and fuel pressure are reading correctly in PC Link then it is broadcast as part of the Dash2pro stream, which input it comes from doesnot matter. Gregconboy158
Yep they read correct on pclink. I'm at a loss with it then, rt are no help whatsoever either. Shame as I heard good things about their customer support but just seems like they don't want to know
