Traction Control on R34GTT

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to Link ECUs and have a G4X ECU in my R34GTT Skyline. I am trying to work out how to configure Traction Control with or without Slip? The TCS and Slip lights are lit up all the time, so I'm keen to get this configured.

Can I just configure this under the 'motorsport' section (as the car has TCS and Slip management in stock configuration), or do I have to set up the individual wheel speed sources?

Any suggestions would be really appreciated, thanks.

As far as I know the factory system wont work with any aftermarket ecu.  The common workaround for the warning lamps is to remove the bulbs.

To use the Link traction control you would need to add at least 1 front wheel speed (this wouldnt solve the warning light issue however).

The factory ABS sensors are connected to the ABS ecu and the speed is not communicated to the engine ecu.  You can try splicing into one of the front ones and feeding the signal to both the abs and engine ecu but many oem computers have fault detection features to prevent this from working.

Sorry I missed your last question.  Did you try connecting one of the front ABS sensors?  That would certainly be the easiest option if it works.  You dont need to modify anything, you can just poke a back probe into the main connector at the ABS unit and connect it to a DI to see if it works.  If no dash lights come on then go with it.

GPS is not suitable for TC, too much lag and instability.

If you wanted to make your own wheel speed pickup, an industrial sensor such as a GS100502 is often easy to mount, you may need to get a trigger wheel laser cut or sometimes you can just pick up of the back of the wheel studs or lugs on the hub etc.
