NatureBoy
So, I have noticed that there is not a knock provision on the G4x VR4Link. Upon searching, I found that it could have been added on the G4+. Could this be something that could be added to the G4x ecu as well? Adam, I hope you see this. If so, can you send me a PM?? Thanks! Adamw
Yes it can be added. The ecu will have to be modified with a wire link soldered in. If you want to maintain your warranty it will have to be done by Link, if you are prepared to lose the warranty then I can give you DIY instructions. Are people often using knock sensors to tune on e85 cars? I've heard that it's not really that useful considering it's so hard for a properly tuned e85 car to knock. Any thoughts on this? Adamw
The ECU knock control is generally set up as a safety to save the engine if for example intake temps get really high or some bad fuel is used. It is generally not useful for tuning. But you should use audio based knock detection when tuning if it is knock limited.
