don17
I have a g4+ supralink non vvti ecu, can I wire 2 pin non vvti ignition coils straight into IGT pins and ground without going through external igniter? Or do I need a new igniter
Adamw
No, dumb coils will need the ignitor or change to some smart coils with ignitors built in. You dont necessarily need to use the JZ ignitor, you could for instance use 2 of the Link 3 channel ones.
HollywoodJackson
Greetings all enthusiast! I have a similar question (glad I didn't have to post a new topic!!) I'm setting up a SupraLink in my car with an IS300 2JZ-GE. I want to get it running now as soon as possible. At first I'm planning to keep the paired is300 coils (waste spark) to get it running. Then later on I plan to add 6 Supra coils. Will the waste spark setup require the igniters? Will the Supra individual coils require the igniters? Asking, because if the Supra coils don't require the igniters, I will get the Supra coils now. If both setups will require the igniters, then I will get the needed igniters now. Thanks for any info! All the best, ~HollywoodJackson~
Adamw
All 2 wire "dumb coils" will need an ignitor. The difference in your case being you will need a 3 channel igniitor for your wasted spark coils, Vs a 6 channel ignitor (or 2 x 3 ch) for the supra coils. I've got my hands on a Toyota igniter. I'd like to confirm I have the setup right for the igniter. Here's what I have... +B: power from the EFI relay when key is switched on TAC: Aux 1 on SupraLink T1: B57 on SupraLink T2: B56 on SupraLink T3: B55 on SupraLink IGF: not needed GND: ground C1: coil pack #3 C2: coil pack #1 C3: coil pack #2 I think** this is the correct setup for the igniter. Adamw
That would be correct assuming the coils you call 1/2/3 are connected to the cylinders in this order: Coil 1 = Cyl 1 & 6 Coil 2 = Cyl 2 & 5 Coil 3 = Cyl 3 & 4 HollywoodJackson
