RussT400
Surely a 5v supply to this as with the penny gauges??? Though I’ve just bench tested it with 0-5v and it’s signalled only in mV not even up to a 1.00V surely it needs a regulated supply?? Not a 12v to bring the signal voltage up?? Maybe use the +8v reference out??? Help
Adamw
According to their website it is just a standard potentiometer, it will output 0V at one end and supply voltage at the other end. Since the ecu analog inputs can only measure 5V you should use a 5V supply.
RussT400
Thankyou Adam I have tested it’s output on a 5v supply and it only varies from 0volt to 0.34volts do you think this will be sufficient for my e pedal inputs to my Ecu as I was thinking they’d be closer to 0v to 3.5v?? Adamw
No, must be a minimum of 2.0V span. Can you tell me the resistance between red and black, and black and yellow and both fully extended and fully retracted.
RussT400
Red Black is 3.048 K ohms Black Yellow is 3.073 K ohms then extended Black Yellow is 26.6 ohms Red Black is a constant value.
RussT400
Just had a look at the Aim throttle position potentiometer and it’s range is 5K ohm over 130’ …… thinking there’s something maybe not right with my test battery 5v maybe???? Adamw
So yes, something is wrong with your test, with 3K total resistance divided by the wiper between 26 & 3K, you should have about 0-5V coming out of it. RussT400
RussT400
Thankyou again….. just working everything out before I pull my loom out, which I’ve had to adapt as I’ve only the engine essential wires left after removing the rest.
