G4x Monsoon X vvti on Toyota 2 z z g e

I'm begging anyone with the brains to please help. My car has been in the shop over 2 years and I've spent everything I got trying to complete this project. Right now everything's at a standstill because the link ECU doesn't have a trigger in the programming for vvti engagement and disengagement. We got a good base map but that's it. Doesn't run well at high RPMs. We've tested all vvti components and can manually operate it. The motor is a Toyota 2zz GE

I really hope to find some answers here because I'm at my wit's end. My car's been in the shop for over a year. And for the past couple months everything's been at a standstill. The car has a base map it's running on but I'm told no one can finish tuning because there isn't a trigger in the software to activate vvti. The shop assures me that everything on the Toyota side is good and operating normal. That they can manually activate it but the computer doesn't do it on its own. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

As far as I'm aware the 2zz engine has a VVT solenoid that controlled timing and a VVL solenoid that controlled lift. I'm fairly sure they were a simple on/off arrangement.

As long as they are wired into the Link as aux outputs you can control them any way you want for when they switch and for how long.

The factory ecu has a oil pressure switch as an input to make sure the engine has enough pressure to drive the system but it's not strictly required.

A copy of your tune would be handy to see how it's been setup.

It sounds like someone might be making up stories.  Many hundreds of 1ZZ and 2ZZ's out there running Link ecu's, we have fully supported that engine including the VVT and high cam system (VVTLi) since G4 about 15years ago.

I just saw you have another post related to the same subject so im going to merge it into this one.  We really need more info about what the actual problem is, and preferably a log and tune to help any further.

your tuner has read the help file right?

I use the 2NZ VVT trigger mode and 1ZZ Cam control mode myself on all the 2zz's I do on Link ECU's, I've also had them work when using the 1ZZ VVTi trigger mode.  Sounds like you need a different tuner that knows what they're doing
