Mitchell Ford Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 So I've been having some trouble with getting my car started, after I turn power off to the ECU. I'm running a 1.5JZ with 12 tooth trigger wheel on the 2jz bottom end and rear cam sensor on the 1jz head. Every time I want to start the car, the triggers dont sync, unless i change the configuration of trigger 1 (crank) from multi-tooth to something else, then back to multi-tooth, this ONLY happens when the ECU loses power from ignition/kill switch being turned off, not if the engine dies from lack of revs. The ECU is storing correctly, it just wont start/triggers sync after power has been turned off then back on. I'm also wanting to run a racepak dash and was wondering what module i need to run this dash cheers, Â mitch Quote
Dave Kriedeman Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 Hi Mitch, so when you make the trigger change you are pressing F4 to save the changes to the ECU and F2 to save the changes to the pcl file or create a new one. Regards Dave. Quote
Mitchell Ford Posted January 6, 2015 Author Report Posted January 6, 2015 No I'm not saving the change to the ecu, or saving the file to the computer as technically there is no change. If I plug into the ecu, and go into trigger configuration, it comes up as the correct settings (multi tooth) however it will NOT start unless I change from multi tooth, to something else, then back to multi tooth, hence there being no change in the settings. Cheers mitch Quote
Dave Kriedeman Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 Hi Mitchell, What software/firmware are you using, is this ecu a plug in or a standalone. Did you carry out a trigger calibration correctly and press F4 to save to ECU and save the new file as a new name , that way the original file cant be accidently reloaded. Regards Dave. Quote
Mitchell Ford Posted January 10, 2015 Author Report Posted January 10, 2015 The ecu and PClink software are the latest up to date ones. It's a wire in G4 xtreme. Could the problem be that I have loaded a base map into the ecu that was created from an earlier firmware/software and edited the base map to suit my setup? Hense why I'm getting this weird problem? Would it be benificial for me to set up a completely new file from scratch, then save that to the ecu? Have you encountered a problem such as this before, David? mitch Quote
Dave Kriedeman Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Hi Mitch, No I have never even heard of such an issue, the LINK Engineers may have but, not myself. So what you are stating, correct me if I am wrong ,is the following. You have the engine running, however if the power is shut off to the ECUÂ as in the KILL SWITCH has been activated and dropped all power, the engine will not restart until you physically change the trigger setup and then change it back to what it should be, then it will restart. Can you please try to log this strange behaviour, also can you HIT F2 at time of switch off and save the pcl file as KILL SWITCH ACTIVE. Just want to see if anything strange happens in the captured screen shot. Regards Dave. Quote
Simon Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 Chances are there is something locking the triggers out. ECU hold power, Anti Theft, Dual ECU, Engine Kill will all lock out the triggers. Quote
Mitchell Ford Posted February 4, 2015 Author Report Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks Simon! That was exactly it, ECU hold power was on. Works a treat and tuned up perfectly now. Cheers. Quote
