IAT sensor for speed density.

I have a GM open element air sensor wired into the stock location on the MAF of my 3000gt. When I start the car and log it, it shows that the car only saw 220° air. That can't be right. I checked the sensor and it reads good. Should I have wired the IAT sensor into something else?

220F? as this seems some what hot for intake temp.

The sensor should be mounted after the turbo and intercooler so it sees the actual temp of the air entering the engine.

I would expect to see temps a little bit higher than ambient temp.

Its mounted right behind the throttle body. It isn't heat soak because the motor isn't running long enough to heat soak And there us a phenolic spacer On the intake manifold. The sensor reads perfectly fine when hooked to an ohm meter. I just don't understand why the computer isn't reading it right.  Should it be wired into the stock MAF location or should I wire it into the A temp of the computer?
