Johnathan Wright Posted February 6, 2013 Report Share Posted February 6, 2013 Hi i am new to this i bought a g4 link ecu for my 07 STI and i installed it i used the anti static wrist strap and i took computer repair so i know how static electricity is to a circuit board. When i went to connect the ecu to make sure everything was working correctly it would not connect to my laptop. i tried it with the car on and off and nothing. i also tried updating the firmware and nothing please help. i set the pins correctly for the 07 and did everything i read in the instructions. is it my laptop its running windows 7 64 bit. any help would be greatly appreciated. Johnathan Wright Posted February 6, 2013 Author Report Share Posted February 6, 2013 i have the com ports set to automatic, and the fuel pump and fans kick on with the turn the car on so that leads me to think that there is nothing wrong with the ecu. Simon Posted February 6, 2013 Report Share Posted February 6, 2013 Check in device manager under com ports to see if the ECU is being recognised it be assigned a com port number. There is an issue with USB3.0 ports. If the USB port you are using has a blue tag it will be USB3. The next release PC link has a fix for USB3 and also windows 8. Mine was on 1 or two.  I am using windows 7,  but only 32 bit. The first time you connect you will just hit open and go with the V10 Map and start tweaking settings. Johnathan Wright Posted February 8, 2013 Author Report Share Posted February 8, 2013 ok i tried it and no luck. i do have usb 3.0 and i plug it into com4 and set the connection setting to com4 and still nothing the. has anyone else used this program on a 64 bit os.
