Androo007
Hi Guys, I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a windows tablet and running this in the space of the double DIN for a live dash. However, the connecting cables are either data or power.I’ve read somewhere that you can actually connect a BT module to the ECU to talk to it, is that right? If so, how the heck do I do that?!This way I would retain the usual charging hooked to ignition, then comms via the BT module.Would this be a possible and ideal solution? I’d imaging the actual lag for comms would be pretty minimal.Although good with spanners a plonker with electronics so would pass any steps onto my tuner…. If you could please help that would be really appreciated!
Simon
You can wire the CAN output from the ECU to a OBD port as per attached image. Then you need a suitable dongle and App for the tablet. It will then be an option to display the following parameters.PID NumberDescriptionPID01Number of CE (Check Engine) CodesPID03CLL (Closed Loop Lambda) StatusPID05ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature)PID06Short Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1PID07Long Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1PID08Short Term Fuel Trim - Bank 2PID09Long Term Fuel Trim - Bank 2PID0AFuel Rail Pressure (gauge)PID0BMAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure)PID0CEngine SpeedPID0DVehicle SpeedPID0EIgnition Timing Advance for #1 CylinderPID0FIAT (Intake Air Temperature)PID11Absolute Throttle PositionPID13Number of O2 sensors presentPID22Fuel Rail PressurePID24O2 Sensor 1 Equivalence RatioPID25O2 Sensor 2 Equivalence RatioPID33BAP (Barometric Pressure)PID42Control Module VoltagePID43Absolute Throttle Position BPID44Commanded Equivalence Ratio (Lambda)PID45Relative Throttle PositionPID49Absolute Pedal Position DPID4AAbsolute Pedal Position EPID4CCommanded Throttle Actuator ControlPID52Ethanol Fuel %PID59Absolute Fuel Rail PressurePID5CEngine Oil TemperaturePID5DFuel Injection TimingPID61Drivers Demanded TorquePID62Actual Engine TorquePID78Thermocouple 1 on EGT Bank 1 Sensor 1PID79Thermocouple 2 on EGT Bank 2 Sensor
Dave Kriedeman
Hi, this is the way to do it wireless. Or just use your PC tuning cable and purchase a USB to mini USB adaptor and run the PC cable direct to your WINDOWS based tablet with PC LINK installed. If you go to my FACE BOOK PAGE, VIPEC_ LINK PRO TUNING page you will find some videos of the setup I did a few years ago. So you can customise some awesome dash configs and have live warnings and the ability to PC log and tune with the tablet. Hot spotted to your phone or other internet device then also gives the ability for remote desktop tuning , a service I have been offering for many years now. I tried to load the video but the file was too big. Regards Dave. Edited February 18, 2017 by Dave Kriedeman
trophy
Sorry to bring up an old thread. Do you know if this would work with a Vipec v88 ECU? is this something that could be completed with one of the can cables?
Simon
No the V series units did not have the OBD option it only arrived with the introduction of the I series units.

Richard Hill
I use virtual here to supply usb over wi-fi. It works really well, you get native usb so you can run pc link wirelessly. The module i use is a GL-MT300N-V2 which is about 20 quid. I then use a 12V to usb unit to power it. HTH, Richard.
