Kameleon
Hi Everyone, I have a 3SGE Blacktop beams which is in a BMW E30. The vehicle has been running around with the factory ecu and other setup items for 7 or so years but we recently installed a AltezzaLink plug-in. The car will start after doing crank and idle but will not increase RPM with the throttle (it dies once enough air from the throttle has been opened). Any idea on this? The vehicle has the following modifications/changes from stock: * 90 deg intake pipe with pod filter * Internal map sensor of the AltezzaLink tapped into the manifold vacuum line. * External air temperature sensor (seperate to the map plug). * Flex fuel sensor (confirmed to be reading ok. * Modified secondaries on the exhaust manifold and 2.5 inch straight through system. * The injectors fitted are 980cc/min = 670g/min = 89lb/hr @ 3bar Any assistance with supplying a base map is greatly appreciated. Some one else will be tuning the vehicle but we would like it to get it to running well before this. Regards, Travis
Brad Burnett
what fuel mode are you currently running it in? What is the injector scalar or master fuel value at?
Leiden
Where have you tapped your vacuum feed from, on mine I found the most stable vacuum source was on the strut tower side of the plenum wall opposite the runners, you'll have to tap in a fitting. If your too close to the runners or in a location where there is high/turbulent airflow the signal can be inaccurate and unstable. You'll probably want to be using the Modelled Fuel mode since you are running Flex Fuel, also its required for the stock cluster CAN communication (probably not a problem if you aren't using the stock cluster) I'm assuming you have checked all the inputs/outputs are calibrated and reading properly? Can you post up your Basemap and a Log file of the fault.
Kameleon
Thanks for the replies. Turns out the throttle was letting us down here and no matter what the tuner tried could get to function. I did have intermittent issues with this even on the factory ecu so maybe we have killed it during our initial testing. Because of this I am replacing the throttle body with a VDO Siemens unit from an E70 (N62TU) BMW and using a E46 DBW pedal assembly. I am confident the tuning side will be ok after this but does anyone have experience with changing to a true DBW throttle on the BEAMS and changing the electric motor wiring from the 4 on the Altezza to the 2 on the VDO/Siemens unit? Attached is the wiring diagrams for the E46 DBW throttle and the VDO/Siemens throttle.
Adamw
Some wiring info in the help file will help. Altezza should be similar to this one: BMW will be like this: The BMW doesnt have a clutch so the clutch wires will no longer be connected to anything.
