Focos wrc Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Anyone able to advise. Cranking engine and this is the trigger scope I have got. But it seems hit and miss. Not tried to fire with fuel yet. Just seems very odd to me but I am very new to this so trying to learn. Many thanks Quote
neil brown Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 What car and what triggers are you using Quote
Focos wrc Posted December 30, 2019 Author Report Posted December 30, 2019 Cosworth yb. 36-1 Ford escort cosworth crank (90 before tdc) Phase is via distributor. Currently with both (2) lugs still present Quote
neil brown Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Probably need to remove 1 lug from dizzy maybe signals are back to front as waveform is negative value Just make sure crank is on trigger 1 and cam/dizzy is on trigger 2 sure admin will confirm settings soon Quote
Focos wrc Posted December 30, 2019 Author Report Posted December 30, 2019 I had planned to take the lug off but was trying it in the duratec vct setting first but no joy. Hoping may get a better understanding before I remove it. Had big back fire once but keep getting trig1 error counts. Scope just isn't looking like expected so not sure if issue elsewhere Quote
Adamw Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 Your trigger scope shows no signal at all, that is just noise you see there. Did you click the capture button while the engine was cranking? Quote
Focos wrc Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Morning. Yes I had press capture. Or do you click whilst its cranking? I clicked before cranking. That's all I seem to get everytime. If I try with fuel it either coffs and stops or had it back fire once Quote
Adamw Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 2 hours ago, Focos wrc said: I clicked before cranking You have to click it while the engine is cranking and then keep it cranking for a few seconds until the waveform is drawn across the screen. Quote
Focos wrc Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 This looks better now. Quote
Adamw Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 Ok, trigger 2 voltage is quite low so set trigger 2 arming threshold to 0.2v @ 0rpm and 0.5v @ 1000rpm. It would be strongly suggested to remove one tooth from the dizzy for the most robust triggering but it may run with the duratec mode. You will need to check trigger offset with a timing light. Focos wrc Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Will give it all a try. Struggling with battery power now. Think it may have had enough so will try my spare and order a new one if need be. I will also pull the dizzy and remove the lug which comes closest to the crank missing tooth. Happy new year Quote
