fuel level wiring

hello,

im trying to get fuel level too show up in pc link on my jdm evo 7

my wiring guy told me too hook up signal wire from the oem gauge cluster

as the evo has two floats so both sender units should be joined at the cluster... he told me he will hook up a wire from the cluster fuel level signal too pin # 77 on my ecu

pin#77 being empty, my question is will that work to get the ecu too see fuel level?

how do i tell the ecu thats pin#77 is fuel level sender signal?

No, Pin 77 is AN Temp 3, it is used for fuel temperature on Evo 8.

A fuel level sensor will need a special circuit to "dampen" the signal otherwise the fuel level reading will just be bouncing all over the place as fuel sloshes around.  It will possibly need a pull-up resistor also depending if you still have the stock cluster in place.

Do you still has the stock dash connected?

@Adamw

yes its temp 3 at pin 77 thats what the my remote tuner told me too hook the fuel level sender too

if not pin 77 where else can i hook it up too?

i do have the stock cluster coz evos tractions and abs starts acting strange if its not hooked up to the oem cluster.

if i hook up a 100ohm resister in btw the wire from the cluater to the ecu will it not dempen?  or how and where do i need to hook up the resistor if not there and what size resistors.

let me know.

Can you give more detail about what you are trying to achieve?  What do you need fuel level connected to the ecu for?  You wont be able to have it connected to the stock gauge and the ecu at the same time.

@Adamw

yes i know i will take the pin out of the oem cluster connector and i have disassembled the cluster with the niddles out and only using its circuit connected with the oem harness fooling the car too think the oem cluster is still attatched.

the digital dash and the oem cluater all is working good... i just want the fuel level too show up on the powerdigital dash.

i have a CAN based digital gauge cluster now which i want too have the fuel level displayed from powertunedigital

so if my ecu sees thw fuel level i can have the digital dash display it.
