jervies1
ive been playing with firmware updates on my I88 ecu i originally had a very early release on there and had no issues, i upgraded to the latest vipec firmware and had weird injector spikes when it transitioned in to boost (150%duty cycle) so im now on the latest link firmware its working well except for a part throttle issue, low load as in when i pull it in to gear and slightly accelerate it goes very lean and surges, ive tried tuning it out, adding 15points to my fueling its helped but still not right. any one had issues like this? ive attached a log and you can see how bad the lean spots are, its like an injector is droppping out Log 2016-12-6 5;42;56 pm.llg
Scott
Is this the same issue as here? Please upload your base-map also.Scott
jervies1
different issue, that ones been happening for ages. vt lowside fuel.pclr
Adamw
I was just going to say upload your map too... You definitely have something very odd going on. Some of it looks like it might be caused by a hole in your fuel map because commanded PW is very short near the misfires but there are also a few other confusing clues. I have a couple of questions too; What is your lambda device? - it seems to "bottom out" around 0.72. which is a very odd rich limit. How much confidence do you have that the logged lambda values are realistic? In your other log the IAT is reading 5°C at 300KPa MAP which seems optimistic. Obviously this is not part of the problem, but is there an explanation for this? Ice intercooler? What injectors do you have?
jervies1
iat seams accurate to outside air temp when not running, its a 500x700 pwr intercooler, works very well, outlet is cold after a run. wideband is an aem controller, 10/20afr so no ideal for running low 11s but has been proven accurate enough on a dyno. They are moran 160lb billet atomizers this is a map from before firmware update, was running fine no lean spots. as youll see much less fuel low load.pclr
Scott
Your injector deadtime seems to have changed significantly. Are the values in the 'vt lowside fuel' base-map the correct values? How many ohms of impedance are the moran injectors? Some of these are very low, and so require a lot of current. Although I'm not sure how a firmware upgrade would change anything with this.Scott
jervies1
i had to reset all my injector setting when i upgraded firmware so i may of changed the deadtimes. i got them off a site so cant confirm. they fixed my issue with car dropping rpm when the fan came on though. recommended 4a peak 1a hold and the measure at 1.8ohm
Top Tune NZ
looking at your map and logs i would have to say i beleive your injectors are to large to get a clean bottom end tune your injector duty cycle is very low and i dont beleave the injectors will even be opening and closing corretly at all also try turning off the over run run cut as this is repeatedly coming off and on worth looking at also what is the fuel flow and pressure readings this may also inlighten us
Adamw
I reckon you have a faulty injector or 3. EGT #4 goes colder in most of the areas that is showing lean. #5 & 6 are not as bad but also suspect. The pic below I think gives the biggest clue. In this screenshot, RPM, MAP, and pulsewidths are constant, nearly flat lines, yet look at the lambda, it pegs from full rich to full lean twice in a matter of seconds. There are a few scenarios that could explain this but I think most likely those lean humps are where an injector(s) doesnt open. Although I agree with Dobson that your injectors are working outside there linear range, you still have funny things going on even at higher pulsewidths so I feel there is more to it than just "too big" injectors. Edit: I just had another thought... Maybe try swapping injectors 1,2,3 over with 4,5,6, then if egt's 1,2,3 run cold I think that would confirm an injector issue. If the problem remains on the same cylinders then you could have a bad connection somewhere. Edited December 9, 2016 by Adamw added more. jervies1
it was injector deadtime issue, obviously the revs brought up voltage and at that pw and deadtime it was dropping the slower injectors out. now i just have to find my 6000rpm cut when i put injector setting back in i used ones off a site not what was previously in there. not sure why the firmware wiped all my settings
Top Tune NZ
check outthe over run fuel cut also try turning this off the higher dwell times may be a issue at high rpmi cant seem to find a setting that i used on my customers car but thought they where a fair bt lower than this as i blew a coulpe of coils at this sort of dwell
