  1. Hey thanks! i loaded that base and it didnt start at first. I had to raise the stepper values at current engine temp to keep the car running. Once those were changed car idles a lot better now so something you changed for me worked well. Ill have to confirm the next time i try to start the car if it has idle issues because of the values i changed. Ill post up the file so you can see exactly what i had to change. If idle stays good ill consider that one step done,, Still noticed the slow rev fall issue. not sure if that was something you changed also or if it was just idle related. either way thanks again. progress!!.. base cal 4 test from forum..pclx
  2. Hey guys finally got a chance to take another log if you wanna look at it and see if you notice anything i need to change to correct my issue. Iv simplified and went to open loop idle control, this is only temporary and im not even sure its correct but its working for the time being. I still believe my stepper adjustments are probably incorrect or that an actual mechanical adjustment may be needed at the throttle stop screw. Either way thats why im on the forum, i hope to learn all this stuff with time but all help and guidance is appreciated.. This log is engine at temp. some slower throttle blips and then some faster throttle blips. Ill attatch a cope of te base tune as well. thankyou!! Warm engine throttle blips hang issue..llgx Base Cal 4..pclx
  3. Hey thanks for chyming in on the topic. Newbie with the pclink stuff so ill actually have to figure out how to go about attatching a copy of the tune. Or is it just a copy of the saved file.. Car is barely tuned to a running state right now. Enough to cruise around, Most of the map is still the evo 9 Base map provided by link. The rest is set up for my specifics like injector data, stuff like that. Always appreciate the information and so bare with me while im a newbie in this process. Let me know any specific information you would like to see or know and ill try my best to provide...Thanks again.
  4. Hey thanks, I took a small log, not sure if any of the logged information is what you would like to see but it may get me in the right direction. I havent set up any specific logging functions yet so just going off what is set up to log by default. Vehicle idles decent, drives decent, been using the self tune feature and cruisng AFR is decent. I have not messed with trying to set up idle with ac on or any of that yet either.. Just trying t get this basic stuff correct one step at a time. Thanks for any information. Warm Throttle blips. Stepper set up...llgx
  5. Hey Just wanted to post up and share my evo 9 for anyone who is interested. Fully built by me to my custom spec. Engine is a true 2.1l at 2100.5cc. Not rounded up or down. Just installed a Link g4x plug and play ecu so I’m learning how to get everything set up properly so this vehicle runs as good as it should! If anyone has any questions or interest in the car, parts, setup, or engine please feel free to ask.
  6. Fellow evo information is always useful. I know the vehicles very very well just not as familiar with the in depth tuning and the new software. As far as log you want to see an actual playable log or just a screenshot of the stepper table or something? I believe my dashpot value is still set as it was at 0%. I appreciate all the information. So far this forum and its contributors have been extremely nice and helpful.
  7. Hey thanks for the response. I will check into that. If I need to post up a map/log I can do so. Thanks again.
  8. hey all, new G4X plun and play user. Had my first successful road test this morning and all is going well so far. i noticed the rpms seem to return to idle fairly slow. i tried making some adjustments with the idle stepper control tables and it wasnt making much of a difference. ill be learning how to use the software for a long while yet so figured i would post up and ask if anyone knows where or what to adjust so i can correct this issue quickly? thanks for any information..

    Evo 8/9 question.

Thanks for the reply. I did just that! Had an oldschool craftsman timing light that I used. I just locked timing at 0 in Pclink, set the timing light to 0 and my timing marks are dead at 0 at idle as well with raised rpm. Had a question about that though,, I did not have to input any further data into the base timing calibration. Is it common to not have to change values, or is the base timing calibration process like a "just to make sure" procedure.. Thanks again for the input..

    Evo 8/9 question.

Hey thanks for the input. Im familiar with that information. My question was more towards the waste spark system. The timing light is going to fire twice the speed with a waste spark system and when checking or verifying drift with increased rpm the timing light is going to be offset by some factor in regards to actual engine ignition timing due to the time it takes to fire the coil at different engine speeds. Ill get it figured out and post up some good info if it is anything other then a normal process.. thanks again for the input.

    Evo 8/9 question.

Hey all, this question is towards evo 8/9 owners with link systems. How are you guys setting your base timing with the wasted spark system? I have a spoolin up COP kit but it still operates as a wasted spark unit. Are you guys using a normal timing light, using something special? I might be missing something simple, just wondering how you guys are doing it. I want everything to be accurate and right. Thanks for any input.
  12. Solved my issue! Here’s the info if anyone else runs into the same issue. With that said I still don’t know the direct cause of why I had this issue or what exactly fixed it. This is how it started,,,, About a month or so I downloaded my PCLink software and had it on mg computer. It wasn’t until a couple weeks or so that I got it connected to mg ecu and got my car started up on it. Literally the next day I noticed that the latest PCLink version was released on the link ecu website. Soo I downloaded the latest version and it requires a firmware update. I tried to do the firmware update and it failed. Ecu ended up in boot mode and I was stud with a brick. I attempted to reinstall the old version of PCLink and still in boot mode I could not get out. Reinstalled the new version and tried again with no luck… So moving forward.. I mentioned that I contacted link tech support and I want to say that those guys have been completely awesome with support. Very nice to deal with and they had a reply to my concerns within the hours. This info was not the fix for my issues but it may help someone in need and searching for a simple fix. . I was advised by link tech support that the easiest way to bring the ecu out of boot mode was to bench flash the ecu. I’m pretty familiar with bench flashing so this was a simple process for me but for others who may not be familiar this process is exactly the way it sounds. It usually requires the removal of the ecu circuit board and hooking it up to power and ground on a bench or anything outside of its plugged in enclosure of the vehicle. Once the board is powered it usually can be flashed just as if it was in the vehicle. It just has absolutely no interference with anything other then the computer. I’ll post up some pictures of this process. Ultimately the bench flashing process did not directly work for me I tried multiple times with different settings, USB ports, power sources and other attempts. What did work for me was using a different computer with PCLink installed on it. Now this may be the difference but the older computer is using windows10 and my new computer is on windows11. Either way the older computer sent the firmware update through first try and the ecu is no longer in boot mode. Verified PCLink works now on both computers. Hope this information helps someone with similar issues. I would suggest that before the bench flashing process,,, try a different computer with maybe a different windows version before removing the ecu for bench flash….
  13. Hey thanks for replying with interest in helping. I have a Link G4X plug and play model for the evo 9. I actually solved my issue. I’ll post up the info. Thanks.
  14. Hey all, Im a recent link g4x owner and im just starting getting everything set up. I seen a new pclink update so i updated that and it required a firmware update. attempted to update the firmare and ecu ended up in boot mode. I dont understand why unless i have something wrong which i dont believe i do but its possible. Vehicle did have a fully charged jump box on the battery so i dont believe it was low voltage. i keep getting a something has caused and interuption in the update process message. Has anyone experienced this or have a simple fix so i may continue my setup process? any help is appreciated thanks. Also just to note i have contacted link tech support so if i find a cure for the issue i will post up. also great customer service from link so far!!
