  1. Hiya all - I'm hoping someone is able to help me here.

I'm trying to get my car to idle well again ( it last ran on the g4+ ) but ever since switching from the g4+ to g4X I've not been able to get a stable idle. I've since sold that ecu but If I were to plug it in now and power the car on - the idle would be great.

So I'm wondering - what am I missing?

I'll attach the gt4+ calibration and my current calibration.

I logged for a few hours trying different thing today.

What I'm really trying to iron out is getting the idle and low rpm/low load revving down so that my transmission controller (HTG GCU) can do it's learning process fully. At present if try to give the car any throttle it essentially just misfires. At idle even, it sounds as if there is a misfire.

There was one point where both lambdas matched the target.. but this ' misfire ' condition persisted.

While I await a smoke tester, anything stand out here? Anything I have misconfigured perhaps?

I've checked for exhaust leaks, vaccum leaks etc so short of the smoke tester I'm not sure.

I don't believe it's the cams as when vvt is on - they are fine and even with vvt off - this issue persists.

I've compared what i could tell that's different from my G4+ map to this g4X map and i really don't see what it could be.

In CL Lambda - this issue kind of switches around but one bank or the other will l basically hunt target AFR to Max/Min Clamp. IF I raise or lower the clamp ( respectively ) - the corresponding lambda sensor just hunts in that direction until it hits the new max/min.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - getting a bit desperate at this point and this forum always seems to come through for me...

    Thank you!

I still dont seem to be able to attach files over 25kb so i've put the log and cal files in this google drive with the 5/22 date.

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vW4s2359l4TvHrfpu_UTqQQR-OXciB3d?usp=sharing

I have also tried offsetting the base cal by 360, -360, 180 and -180.

    The car won't even start.

0 is where base timing is set and that's where the timing light matches the mark on the crank.

  2. You're a legend.. We send quite a lot over CAN now and the gentelman that set it up has concerns that more would be a problem ( but we could drop some unused things in the stream that sends to the dash??? What do you think? If it's okay would you possibly mind sending over The "gearbox clutch temp" as well ( CAN AN 3) ?? Would love to have some dash alerts for this.

As you can see we send basically everything for the shifting over CAN.

For the Menu button i would love if I could use button 6 ( top row all the way to the right  of the 12 button keypad )

I added in the logging bit ( thank you , although I can't say I understood how to do a table button for the different states of logging. )

I have not setup the starter control yet - I'll save this for when I'm at the car this weekend. Last thing I'd want is to misconfigure something and the car wants to start as soon as I provide power or something lol.

But I will note this in and configure it!

Cal file and dash config posted here. Not sure how I'm going over the file upload limit so easily.. ha

    Thank you again. Immensely.

  3. Hi folks- looking for some help on the following.

I'm hoping to setup my link keypad to ( on button press ) begin or stop logging. My configuration is as below. I'm working under the assumption that " Log marker " begins logging as well as marks a point in the logs to highlight. If this is not the case, I think that's okay. I could work with having a marker start and end but I would have some questions about the internal logging. I could have it set to turn on above a certain RPM.. which makes sense. But say I'd like to log a lap.. or a series of laps/session nd then once internal storage has filled, delete what haven't downloaded. Is this function possible?

Additionally, while we're on the page of logging. I have my start button setup with the keypad as well. It triggers the starter.

Is it possible to also set it up such that I could latch and have a second press also kill the engine? Could someone help me through that?

    Thank you very much!

Unfortunately hitting the file limit trying to attach the screenies. You can find them at the below link. Thank you!

    EDIT: One final question...

My AiM dash is on CAN 1 with this keypad. Is it possible to cycle the menus with a Keypad button? I believe I've seen this function on some cars and was hoping I could have it as well.

    Thank you!

  4. APS is actually a known issue that I forgot to mention. It's from the DCT controller as it needs to turn on with the ECU at the same time. I have the controller on a switch right now so it gets mad if I leave it on ( was just being lazy ) and causes errors. Thank you for noticing that and thank you for the concern :)

I'll try these things today and report back. Thank you!

  5. Hi folks- we've recently made the swap over to the G4X to take advantage of some of the CAN stuff ( for our DCT controller ) and keypad, logger space etc. I had someone convert the g4+ map as best they could to the g4x but im experiencing an odd issue.

The car seems to, at a consistent time ( maybe 10-15s ) go into this weird misfire-esque idle after a really nice idle. It seems to be close to target lambda and I truly just can't figure this out. Plugs ok. Coils ok. And if I were to plug my G4+ back in ( I've sold it but i've been chasing this issue for a bit, can confirm what im about to say ), it idles just fine on the NA tune!

I feel like theres some odd mode or something?

I'm attaching some logs, the map, the old g4+ map and some videos to illustrate the issue I'm having.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying to get this thing into a decent state to do a bit of low load rolling to test the shifting of the DCT before going to the dyno.

    Thank you!

I tried changing startup decay to 0s, and this did not resolve the issue. You can also observe that in the time before the " bad idle state ", I'm able to blip the throttle just fine.

    Videos are here https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1L-6KQMy5U9YolVdyxTqBJ6CS6rTGG33-

Some logs are there as well as they exceed the 1MB limit

  6. @Adamw

    1. Intercooler is actually not connected during this bit of testing so this makes sense

    2. Odd. I just did a calibration. The APS is run through an HTG GCU ( it intercepts ) to perform throttle blips and such on downshifts

    3. Actually not,no. I had not touched the throttle pedal at all during this.

  7. Revisting this as we're just about ready to tune.. I've come to an issue where we're not quite sure why we can't get the car to start.

    Timing is synced
    Trigger scope seems fine.
    I haven't modified the wiring.

Here's some logs, the tune and the scope. I'll also attach the old tune.

I can plug in the g4+ right now and she'll fire right up but with the g4X here I'm running into tons of issues.

@Vaughan perhaps if you wouldn't mind... Maybe this is an easy figure out for you./

I will note that i've about run out of time to visit the car again before we hit the dyno so any troubleshooting that needs to be done I'll be paying labor on.. I'm hoping we're close but I'm abit past my experience level now.

  8. Appreciate you guys much here.

Now t hat I have the X there's a ton of things we can do - including traction control.

In doing traction control, we will also be adding the self contained 4 channel ABS from the MK3 spyder. For this, the wheel speed INPUTS go into the ABS unit and the ABS unit seems to have 4 outputs for each wheel.

For the ABS, am I able to use these ABS outputs to be the wheel speed inputs into the ECU?

Your fuel temp is most likely incorrect because the DI is set to falling edge, most flex sensors use the rising edge.

I have attached the deadtime and SPWA tables for the 1000cc Link injectors. You will need to set the deattime table to 3d before this will import (it is not a 3d table but you need to set to 3d so the breakpoints match.

Flowrate should be set to 892.1cc @ 300Kpa.

Interesting I will check that out. Thanks Adam.

As for adding in the INJ deadtime and SPWA tables, how will this affect the calibration as it stands? In my ignorance I would image that the entire fuel table would be thrown off, no?

If you're going to be retuning on the X platform anyway - why not fix the model values like engine displacement (2GRFE is 3456 cc - not 3500 for example), and injector flow/dead time/short pulse width adder?  Are you running an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?  Have you measured the actual fuel pressure with a gauge (or better yet install a FP sensor for the ecu to use)?  Using a larger injector than what the ECU *thinks* is there should artificially make the values in the fuel table lower as a given pulse width should deliver more fuel than calculated in the model.

Your last file did not import the fuel table @adamw posted.  Right click on the fuel table 1 somewhere ->  import/export -> import from file.

I believe the Fuel temperature is in there - just not really accessible on the input side (analog or digital) once you have the ethanol sensor input.  So you should be able to use it as a parameter to set up some type of check engine light or fault code alert and see it in datalogs/runtime values.

If you post exactly what injectors you have I'm sure I or someone on here should have good injector data for them to share.

Hey thanks for that. I have the link 1000ccs actually.

I had the correct values in on the startup map i built on the + but the gent that tuned my car changed them. Big mess. very unhappy about it.

I'll re-try the import - thanks. I was wondering what was up with that. I did do as your said though. Weird.

My goal with the X at this point is just to get the car started and running on it prior to adding all the turbo bits.I'm also adding a DCT trans which the + doesnt mesh with well. With the amount of changes I'm having to do in swapping to the X from the + , I don't really want to rely on this map as a " tuned " map.  Id like to be able to put around a bit on low low load and make sure everything is good there, then I'll add and hand off to the new tuner to calibrate for the turbo.

Would fixing those details cause any issues/drastically change the map such that it could not be relied on? Sorry this is not really my area of expertise unfortunately.

Also I do have a fuel pressure gauge yes. It's wired in the ECU thankfully.

Only thing I spotted is that you're using Modelled mode but your Fuel table (Volumetric efficiency) values look more like a traditional fuel table, would expect more like 60 or 70% at idle and up around 100% at peak torque, @Adamw might be able to give you a good example.

You will also need to tune your charge temp table and you shouldn't need IAT Fuel Trim table or warmup enrichment table (i.e. set them to 0) because the charge temp table covers differing fuel volume for differing air and coolant temperatures.

Hey - yeah I personally noticed this as well but this is as the tuner calibrated it.

We're adding a turbo in the near future so I will just leave it and let the new engineer recalibrate.

There's quite a few things I dislike about this calibration unfortunately. Ex - i'm using 1000cc injectors.. Did you happen to notice what it's scaled for in the calibration?

    Sigh

Start by copying the charge temp table example out of the help file, that usually works pretty well for common road engines.

I adjusted your fuel table (attached below) to be a bit closer to what I would expect.  You can use the "import from file" function to bring this in.

    Thank you!

    I've done this.

I noticed that the G4X has a Fuel temperature menu with an error value. I think this would be something cool to alert on. I currently get fuel temperate through the Ethanol Content Sensor - this is on DI5. I noticed in the drop down that no DI is selectable as a source for fuel temp. Do you have any recommendation for how best to add this in?

Here is the cal with the fuel table you sent improted. At least I believe it has been properly imported.

  12. @Adamw Hi there-

So I've finally gotten around to wiring my fuel gauge in. Unfortunately It doesnt seem that I have the right concept/ I have the scaling in the math channel all wrong.

I've pulled the sending unit out and was wondering if you had any good advice around measuring and properly scaling the table?

I previously had information stating sensor range 0-100%
    voltage at 0% 2.6v
    voltage at 100% 0.2v

    This doesnt work unfortunately.

  13. @Vaughan

If I wanted to use Aux7 To control fans how would I accomplish that?

One relay per fan sure, but is it possible to just trigger both fans to come on at X temp? Which relay wire would go to Aux7?

Could I have Aux 7 Be the ground to both relays ( one for each fan )
    each relay to switched 12v
    each relay to ground

each relay to constant 12v fused

    each relay to fan

Have the fans turn on at ECT=X and not a temp sensor in the radiator itself?

Conversely could I do the same with IGN7 and IGN8?
    IGN7 be relay 1 ground
    IGn8 be relay 2 ground

    each relay to switched 12v
    each relay to ground

each relay to constant 12v fused

    each relay to fan

and have the fans turn on ( ground the relay ) at ECT readout vs a sensor in the radiator

  14. Oh wow.. Honestly didn't realize that..

    That may make things better..

I also definitely sent over the wrong map file. Ill have the car back tomorrow and can confirm the map that is on the car. Will confirm all of the above and get back to you. Thank you!

  15. Hello Gurus,

I'm looking to leverage the auto tune feature to smooth out the idle ( around low throttle pos, low load ) prior to reaching my tuner. The intent is to be able to load the car on the trailer without going super rich and additionally be able to just put around my neighborhood for some parts testing.

She is quite rich, about 0.70 Lambda, (1000cc Link injectors ) and I'm having trouble taming it. The idle gets consistent (ableit high ) but any higher load cells are very very unhappy.

    Any suggestions?

Looks like yes for G4+, looks like we might have changed our trigger pattern to suit bank 1 (rear bank) for G4X.

    Okay great to know.

I'll have to relay this around as I think some others plan to follow in my footsteps here
