ellisd1984
Does anyone know of a suitable cable and Ideally a supplier in the UK for 2 core and screen cable suitable for wiring a 2 wire wideband Bosch knock sensor?
Gotty101
I've used belden screened cable you can get it from other places (the pic shows 3 core but its only 2 core) ou may already know but incase, only ground the screen at one end only. https://uk.farnell.com/belden/4500fe-00100/cable-sec-shld-grey-3-3mm-100m/dp/1423259 Trev
Adamw
Have a look at "TE ML 2" on this page: https://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/Screened_Cables.html This is the common M27500 that is used in motorsport, probably overkill in a road car but if you only need to buy a few meters it doesnt usually work out too bad. 150°C rated so a bit more suitable than the 70°C rated belden above. What is the correct wiring if we use shielded cable? We bridge the shield's wire on ground wire that one goes knock's sensor signal - and at other side also we bridge the shield's wire on knock's signal - which it will hook up on ECU's ground pin? I mean we don't individually ground the shield's wire somewhere to chassi or something?
Adamw
At the ecu end of the cable, connect the shield and the ground wire to sensor ground. At the sensor end of the cable dont connect the shield to anything.

Adamw
For sensors it is best to use sensor ground as there will be an offset between chassis ground and ecu ground depending on how much current is passing through the chassis connections and the ecu wiring.
